Overview |
New Brunswick, New Jersey. We pursue excellence in research, teaching, and outreach in areas of study that address the biological spectrum from molecules to ecosystems. Our emphasis is on both the fundamental sciences and the social and human dimensions. We offer 21 undergraduate majors, including plant and animal sciences, microbiology, biotechnology, agriculture and food systems, landscape architecture, food and nutritional sciences, ecology and evolution, marine science and oceanography, environmental sciences and meteorology, human ecology, entomology, and environmental economics.
In addition to instruction in the classroom, field, and laboratory, our students have opportunities for experiential learning on and off campus, including a growing emphasis on international experiences through short- and long-term study abroad. Students also have access to a robust program of applied research and outreach hosted by the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station laboratories, farms, business incubators, and marine stations throughout the state. |

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Scuba Assistant for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences The Department of Coastal Sciences is seeking multiple "Scuba Assistants" to assist in the undergraduate course, Basic Scuba Diving (11:628:230) taught in the Spring 2025 & Fall 2025 semesters.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Assists with scuba courses & activities according to PADI standards for certified assistants & safe diving practices.
- Assists with preparing scuba equipment for classes, including filling scuba cylinders & equipment field repairs.
- Assists with open water certification dives at off-site program locations.
- Prepares & organizes the dive lockers; distributes and collects equipment from students.
- Drives vehicles to transport students & scuba equipment to/from program locations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- High School diploma or equivalent, and/or up to 4 years of relevant experience.

Certifications/Licenses |
- Must have a Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification & Oxygen Administration certification.
- Valid driver's license and Defensive Driving certification.

- Must be proficient in dive rescue and in the demonstration of standard scuba skills.
