POSITION INFORMATION: Program dates are July 14 - July 31.

Compensation:
Hourly rate of pay is based on the step placement of the salary schedule in the Teacher contract, Step placement is determined by the highest level of formal education and years of service.
Starting hourly rate of pay:
BA/00: $38.38 per hour
MA/00: $45.10 per hour

License Requirement:
Current Minnesota Teaching License in Special Education

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide academic and goal-based learning experiences that enhance student progress across all settings.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Contribute to and participate in the building student support teams.
  2. Serve as an IEP case manager for D/HH students.
  3. Collaborate and develop recommendations with students' IEP teams.
  4. Facilitate team meetings to review student progress and develop IEP's as related to student needs.
  5. Plan and implement appropriate educational programs for D/HH individuals.
  6. Implement educational plans as described on individual IEP (IIP/IFSP) and train building staff as needed.
  7. Maintain appropriate records and reports. Collect data on progress on goals and objectives for each student and meet mandated timelines.
  8. Develop, coordinate, and evaluate work related experience and community experiences for students, when applicable.
  9. Provide work direction to paraprofessional staff members and interpreters.
  10. Communicate effectively with students, families, educators, and administrators regarding student programs and progress.
  11. Collaborate with students, families, related service providers, outside agencies and other team members to promote growth of each student.
  12. Work cooperatively with general education teachers and staff and provide building consultation, support and training as needed.
  13. Create and maintain a professional working relationship with families and staff.
  14. Obtain and demonstrate knowledge of general education curriculum including the grade level outcomes and state standards.
  15. Participate in curriculum development and main professional competence through building and District level staff development activities and D/HH selected professional growth activities.
  16. Conduct assessments, comprehensive report results and follow Minnesota state criteria in area(s) of D/HH eligibility.
  17. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials to provide individualized and/or small group instruction.
  18. Teach staff and students on the care and maintenance of auditory equipment.
  19. Teacher self-advocacy skills to students.
  20. Train staff on adaptations and modifications needed for D/HH students in the general education classrooms.
  21. Implement the Minnesota State Standards and the District Graduation Requirements.
  22. Other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, LICENSE, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):

Required:
  1. Minnesota State licensure in Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
  2. Fluency in ASL/Manually Coded English.
  3. Demonstration of competency in the written and spoken English language.
  4. Solid knowledge of the Minnesota State Standards and the District Graduation Requirements.
  5. Prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
  6. Ability to perform routine computer functions, including the use of email, Microsoft Word and due process system.
  7. Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.
  8. Demonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.
Desired:
  1. Experience with cochlear implanted students.
  2. Experience with auditory training.
