Summary:
The Director of Indirect Sourcing is responsible for leading and managing indirect sourcing activities across commercial, clinical, and general administrative categories. This includes leading the sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management processes for a wide range of categories such as marketing, sales, professional services, and information technology services as well as managing sourcing activities related to clinical services and travel. The Director will ensure cost-effective and compliant sourcing strategies while building strong supplier relationships to support the company's goals.


Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Sourcing lead for commercial and general administrative categories:
o Lead the development and execution of strategic sourcing strategies for commercial and general business categories, ensuring alignment with the company's sales, marketing, and business goals.
o Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gain insight into their supplier needs and provide ongoing support.
o Manage the end-to-end sourcing process for all commercial goods and services, from identifying supplier opportunities to final contract negotiation and supplier selection.
o Identify, evaluate and negotiate with suppliers to secure optimal pricing, terms, and service standards.
o Lead initiatives to reduce costs and increase efficiency in sourcing commercial goods and services while maintaining high quality and service standards.
o Establish and maintain supplier relationships including development of key performance indicators and metrics to measure the effectiveness of commercial sourcing and supplier activities.
o Monitor adherence to service levels and address any issues or disputes with suppliers.
2. Oversight of Clinical and Travel related activities:
o Provide guidance and oversight for clinical indirect procurement activities, ensuring alignment with company goals.
o Manage travel services including the development and enforcement of the Travel & Expense policy, overseeing agency account management, and streamlining the employee reimbursement process.
o Evaluate current travel related processes, tools and systems, identifying areas for improvement and recommending solutions to enhance efficiency, cost effectiveness, compliance and employee satisfaction.
3. Other:
o Ensure compliance with SOX 404 for all purchasing processes, maintaining controls and documentation.
o Support the requisition and contract review processes, ensuring alignment with procurement-to-pay procedures and approval workflows.
o Other ad hoc analysis / projects as deemed appropriate.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This role has supervisory responsibilities.

Interaction:
Work closely with business partners including Sales & Marketing and General Admin. Work directly with the Legal, Finance, Accounts Payable and Compliance teams, operations, customers (internal and external), suppliers and external consultants.


Qualifications

Education and Experience:
* Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Procurement, Healthcare or related field required.
* Graduate degree in Business or APICS, CPSM, CPSD, and/or NAPM certificate or other procurement certificates preferred
* 10+ year experience working in Procurement / Purchase-to-pay function required
* Industry experience in pharmaceuticals, medical devices and/or biotechnology preferred
* Working knowledge of SAP Ariba P2P & contracts systems preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
* Strong interpersonal communication skills
* Analytical skills & project management including Excel skills for data analysis
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, move between spaces, reach with hands and arms, and stoop. Close vision and the need to focus on computer screen, use of hands, fingers, and wrist to type on keyboard and manipulate mouse.

Work Environment:
Typical office setting, staff in cubicles, noise level is moderate with consistent printer, telephone ringing and conversation.

Pay Transparency

The base pay range for this role in San Francisco, California is $188,500 per year to $259,000 per year. The range is what we reasonably expect to pay for this role. The range considers a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: geographic markets, business or organizational needs, skill sets, experience, training, licensure, and certifications.
