We are looking for an entry levelOperational Meteorologistto join our WeatherDesk team working remotely at Vaisala. Our team provides global weather information for clients in the energy and agricultural commodities markets, allowing them to stay ahead of emerging conditions impacting financial trading, agriculture production, and critical infrastructure. Our meteorologists succinctly translate weather data into valuable insights through sound attention to science and customer needs in a 24/7/365 environment.

What's your role?




  • You will be joining WeatherDesk's team of 11 meteorologists. Together with the team, you will leverage your expertise with the tools and data available within our WeatherDesk platform to provide forecasts and weather information to clients in the energy and agricultural sectors.
  • We provide forecasts and support to our clients 24/7. To accommodate our clients' needs, the entry level position in our group is an overnight work shift. Some weekend and holiday work is also expected.
  • WeatherDesk provides forecasts at hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal time scales. You will contribute forecast ideas ranging from real-time weather to seasonal outlooks.
  • Our client needs require creative thinking and innovative ideas. You are expected to respond promptly to customer needs and identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.



What will you bring?




  • A bachelor's degree in meteorology or a related field is preferred. However, four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Experience with basic computer programming is very helpful.
  • A positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to work together with a remote team will make you a successful candidate!
