Job Description

The Office of Human Resources provides leadership in the planning, integration, and implementation of human resource services and programs for faculty, staff, and retirees across all campuses and the health system. Collectively with our campus colleagues, we serve as a strategic and trusted advisor. Support an inclusive and dynamic culture and workforce. As part of the Shared Administrative Services (SAS) Team, this position provides essential support to daily human resources transactional processing, serving over 50,000 active & separated employees, retirees, beneficiaries and dependents.
Responsibilities
Customer Service

  • Monitor and respond to email inquiries in shared resource account inbox via Microsoft Outlook.
  • Provide customer service, problem-solving and tier-two support to routine and non-routine inquires related to benefit plan offerings, eligibility for plan changes, required documentation and other questions involving enrollment.
  • Assess and determine when to escalate complex issues to supervisor or other HR subject matter experts.

Transactional Processing

  • Administer multiple transactional tasks related to employee benefits, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Continuous learning and a thorough understanding of benefit policies, summary plan descriptions, and available resources are essential.
  • Review, approve and enter all paper forms received for:
    • Newly eligible employees
    • Life Events (e.g., marriage, birth, divorce)
    • Beneficiary elections and changes
    • Health Savings Account (HSA) enrollments and changes
    • Flexible Spending Account (FSA) enrollments and changes

Monitor reports and proactively follow up with employees regarding:

  • New hire enrollment completion through the online system.
  • Verification of life event changes to ensure compliance with plan requirements, including requesting necessary documentation (e.g., proof of relationship, loss of coverage).
  • Monitoring dependent/beneficiary change reports, correcting and updating records as needed.

Manage Qualified Medical Child Support Order (QMCSO) processing

  • Verify coverage eligibility and submit required documentation to the appropriate entities.
  • Track QMCSOs within the HRIS system.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, custodial parents, and insurance vendors.

Other Duties

  • Other duties may be assigned to support the University's mission.
Shift

Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

An associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

An Associate's degree and three years of human resources office experience demonstrating knowledge of basic employment laws, exceptional customer service and organizational skills.
Excel spreadsheet skills, attention to detail, accuracy and ability to follow through independently.
Team player with interpersonal, customer service and communication skills. Proven analytic and problem-solving skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Works autonomously and uses sound judgment.
Familiarity with university systems and human resources policies or equivalent is helpful.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $18.50 - $23.00 per hour
Grade: GGS 008
