Job Summary:

This position is responsible for effectively managing the targeted payer accounts in their region of coverage and/or assigned accounts. These accounts will reside within Supernus's targeted payer segments (Commercial Regional, Medicaid and Medicare) This role involves building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders such as payers, providers, and government agencies to negotiate favorable pricing and formulary placement for our products and will function within the company as the Supernus expert on their accounts. They will be accountable for all the yearly objectives set for their account targets. They will work closely with the other key areas in the company (Contracting, National Account Directors, Sales and Marketing) and lead the effort to develop mutually beneficial relationships with their targeted accounts across multiple levels of management and departments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Leverage and build strong partnerships with targeted accounts through primary contacts and throughout the account including trade negotiators, clinical personnel, and operations.
  • Develops and executes strategic account plans to achieve product access goals within the assigned accounts.


  • Effectively communicate value propositions for Supernus, current, and future products.


  • Possessing the analytical and strategic skills necessary to drive product access and reimbursement while maintaining profitability.


  • Effectively lead contract negotiation and execution, including pre-contract financial ROI analysis, contract language negotiation, pull through development and execution, post contract measurement and analysis and formulary communication strategy.
  • An in-depth understanding of and remains up to date on commercial and government payer landscapes, including Medicare Part D, Medicaid, PBM and Health Plan dynamics.


  • Integrates targeted customer's needs with those of Supernus.


  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including Corporate Accounts, Marketing and Sales to develop value propositions and messaging that resonate with key stakeholders.
  • Provides training and support to sales teams on market access strategies, best practices, and pull-through opportunities.
  • Represents the company at industry conferences and events to build relationships and stay abreast of market trends and developments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Other Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree required; a Master of Business Administration is preferred.
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in Pharmaceutical Sales or Sales management experience is required. At least five years of this experience should have been in Market Access Account Management.
  • Experience with both pharmacy and medical benefit products is preferred.
  • Experience maintaining Current relationships with key accounts and success in developing multiple relationships with newly assigned accounts.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship building skills are essential.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers.
  • Ability to develop and effectively deliver a customer or internal presentation. Can simplify the message and convincingly deliver it to targeted customers.
  • Ability to analyze financial scenarios (market shares, unit volume, unit profitability, and ROI).
  • Ability to generate creative solutions in the ever-changing environment of managed care.
  • Strong project management skills are essential for managing multiple initiatives and priorities simultaneously.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment/Travel Requirements:



  • Lifting Requirements: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently constantly to pick up, move and/or carry objects.
  • Walking: Intermittent walking and moving from location to location
  • Visual Acuity: to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer screen, iPad, or other electronic device and for operating motor vehicles.
  • Driving and Travel: Must be able to drive an automobile and hold a valid U.S. Driver's License and be able to travel more than 50% of the time domestically. At times, there will be travel to meetings that span over consecutive days in a row.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately.


Compensation:

At Supernus, we offer a competitive compensation package that reflects your experiences and contributions. The expected salary range for fully qualified candidates applying for this role is $168,000 to $211,000. This range is what the Company reasonably expects to offer for the position and is not reflective of the full compensation scale of the role. This range may be modified in the future. An individual's salary within the range is based on multiple factors, which may include and are not limited to education, relevant experience, knowledge, length of industry experience and organizational needs.

Base salary is one part of the overall compensation package, which includes the opportunity to participate in employee stock purchase programs and performance-based bonus programs.
