The Regional Distribution Center Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the distribution center to include directing employees, handling customer orders, making shipments, maintaining center inventory and operating within controllable cost per ton budgets. The Regional Distribution Center Manager will ensure that key direction and decisions are rooted in our most basic operational demand, that Data is the Source of Truth. Duties & Responsibilities
- Safety Management - Ensures compliance with all government and company safety regulations, as per Company policy. The criteria to which accidents are prevented and governmental regulatory compliance is assured. Maintains the conditions of the distribution center to ensure a safe environment. Promotes a safe work environment by leading and conducting regulatory safety training meetings as scheduled.
- Order Management - Communicates and cooperates with customers, Technical Sales Managers, Industry Sales Leaders, other Distribution Center Managers, Customer Care/Inside Sales, Product Management and Executive Management
- Expense Management - Provides an efficient operation of the distribution center and excellent service to the customer and other districts. The extent to which controllable expenses remain within the prescribed limits of the budget.
- Inventory Management - Works closely with the Commercial Sales team to maintain specific inventory requirements, and to the extent of which the Product Managers are informed of inventory requirement. Keeps product loss within corporate standards by controlling scrap and remnant inventory.
- Personnel Management - The extent to which supervision, selection and utilization, and training of distribution center personnel results in the smooth operation of the distribution center. Utilizes, trains, develops, evaluates, and motivates personnel supervised in an effective manner.
- Building and Equipment Management - Ensures proper housekeeping and maintenance of building and grounds and machinery and equipment are properly maintained.
- Quality Control Management - Actively supports the Quality Improvement Process through visible proactive and positive actions.
- Report Management - Utilizes and monitors reporting tools to operate within corporate standards for on time delivery, response time, and expense management.
Supervisory Responsibility
- Supervises all production and professional employees at the facility
- Effectively communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to the team. Regularly holds meetings with the entire staff to discuss changes, address questions, and foster a positive work environment.
- Oversees and conducts timely and constructive performance evaluations.
- Oversees discipline and separation of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with leadership experience.
- Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and written
- Requires basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to read and understand basic work orders
- Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or a minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience including leadership responsibilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment
- Familiarity with ERP systems and data extraction

- Standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer, mouse, keyboard, telephone, fax, calculator, multifunction copier
- Personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed safety shoes
- All production equipment, including mobile equipment (ie tow motor, fork truck)
