Position Highlights |
The Administrator of Academic Programs will work independently to support the inclusive education efforts of the NSF funded New Frontiers of Sound (NewFoS) Science Technology Center (STC) researching the emerging and growing topological acoustics field. The applicants must have direct experience working on Inclusive and culturally responsive program design and training; supporting underrepresented student populations; and deep understanding of the systemic causes of under representation in Science Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). The Administrator of Academic Programs will work collaboratively with the education team and researchers at all institutions. Extensive knowledge of Inclusion principles, theories, and concepts. As a new emergent center, the applicant we seek will be creative and work collaboratively to develop new approaches or techniques to support the efforts in broadening the participation of students and faculty of underserved populations in STEM. Duties & Responsibilities |
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the developing, managing, and monitoring the implementation of educational programs and initiatives to advance inclusive excellence in the faculty, staff, and students' understanding of inclusive STEM learning.
- Collaborate with the Research Experience and Mentoring undergraduate program leads to support mentor training and mentee training on identity building, inclusive practice in STEM, and overall management of the program.
- Drive accountability to project timelines, deliverables, and outcomes, and develop processes, documentation, and communications for program roll-out and ongoing support.
- Serve as a DEI subject matter expert, providing perspectives, insights, and knowledge to ensure initiatives align with institutional policies and procedures.
- Coordinate and execute the strategic implementation of intercultural engagement, innovation, identity, contemplative practices, intergenerational learning, and healing initiatives.
- Design and develop engaging learning materials and tools (videos and online materials) for the managed programmatic offerings.
- Plans and leads work of one staff member and Graduate Assistants
- Prepare emails, presentations, and other communication materials (e.g., newsletters, brochures, manuals, promotional information).
- Participate in conferences and forums to stay abreast of cutting-edge issues and trends, benchmark leading organizations, enhance presence, and strengthen center recognition.
- Design a strategy to recruit students at all levels of programmatic involvement; identify gaps in service to inform expansion of learning outcomes and coordinate outreach campaigns to increase student participation.
- Prepare and develop quarterly bulletins, annual reports, manuals, and associated materials for reporting and public display.
- Use analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret and evaluate trends, provide direction, and recommend best practice actionable solutions and resources to improve DEI efforts.
- Define and track key performance indicators.
- Collaborate effectively with the NewFoS leadership and external partners around project planning to meet our educational strategic objectives.
- Organize and attend all education related committee/group meetings, documenting informational updates, discussions, and action items.
- Help coordinate materials (program updates, needs, and successes) for the quarterly bulletin.
- Deliver effective, interactive, high-impact learning programs, as needed.
- Record and disseminate minutes during all meetings, including virtual.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of instructional design methodologies and STEM Educational Program Design; development of learning activities (including digital) and lesson development; and writing for both formal and informal learning spaces.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills. Takes an interest in new ways to communicate science information using technology and emergent learning tools such as AI. Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
- Knowledge of inclusive leadership training and development.
- Strong background in mentoring minoritized students in STEM career pathways.
- Ability to develop web-based content (such as web page content).
- High degree of emotional intelligence, problem-solving skills, communication skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while under pressure and in a variety of situations.
- Ability to build relationships and trust across diverse experiences, identities, and positions through cultural awareness, sensitivity, and humility.
- Responsible, organized, and service oriented to lead intergroup coordination across five time zones in the execution of multiple programs.
- Collaborative style and ability to accomplish goals through working with a variety of people.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required. and
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Direct experience working on educational program design, lesson writing, STEM education, and working with minoritized communities.
