Summary:

Oversees the brand spokesperson function as it relates to trade, PR, events and other promotional opportunities for Gallo Brands ensuring internal and import spokespersons (winemakers, distillers, and brand ambassadors) are educated on brand communication objectives and trained on how to present product information to audiences possessing varying knowledge/experience of Gallo brands. Works with spokespersons/brand ambassadors to sharpen presentation techniques, refine messaging and ensure spokespeople are prepared for all brand activities. Oversees the scheduling and planning for all spokesperson and brand ambassador assignments, ensuring that deployments are time and cost efficient and support corporate and brand objectives. Works cross functionally with brand marketing, sales, winemaking, and winegrowing to include leadership to ensure highest and best use of spokespeople for high impact opportunities. Supports Corporate Public Relations efforts with writing projects, creating and distributing corporate promotional materials, as well as special projects geared to shape and protect our corporate image in ways that promote our business, company values and mission.

Essential Functions:

  • Partners with brand marketing to identify strategic marketing priorities; uses information to develop and lead spokesperson strategy.
  • Works with brand and PR team to determine what speaking engagements or promotional opportunities would be most advantageous for brand spokespeople; makes recommendations to brand managers and marketing leadership based on the overarching brand and spokesperson strategy for sales, media and trade opportunities.
  • Develops a master schedule and manages the deployment of spokespersons assignments; ensures assignments do not coincide with production schedules and other important commitments.
  • Facilitates training programs in conjunction with manager to instruct spokespeople how to effectively deliver key messages relating to brand strategies as well as how to effectively engage the press/media. Supports with strategic block and bridge messaging.
  • Manages spokesperson budgets for all spokespersons; oversees the development of travel itineraries for spokespeople.
  • Leads vetting of all spokesperson requests that come in through the system.
  • Leads and oversees all data reporting for spokesperson activities.
  • Works with legal and contracts team to ensure all publicity rights agreement requirements are met and adhered to by spokespeople.
  • Provides in person public speaking coaching and mentoring to all spokesperson personnel.
  • Makes recommendations to brand managers and leadership team members regarding theselection of new brand ambassadors, by working with winemaking, winegrowing leadership to effectively identify bench strength.
  • Develops and maintains strategic relationship with brand and field sales; partners with internal PR and sales team to further enhance brand/media interactions.
  • Strategically works with DTC team and brand to ensure highest possible success with spokesperson activities
  • Supports brand and corporate public relations domestic and international initiatives.
  • Leads executive script writing and writing projects.
  • Develops corporate content including press kits, corporate brochures, fact sheets, promotional materials, corporate presentations, website copy, etc.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders ensuring engagement with corporate brand through content creation.
  • Monitors and ensures achievement of goals, objectives, and timelines for spokesperson activities.
  • Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate.
  • Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of sales, journalism, communications, marketing, or public relations agency experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of Gallo winery sales or marketing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Required to travel 25% of the time to conduct job duties.
  • Candidate is required to have a valid driver's license, a safe driving record and reliable vehicle (if applicable) at the time of hire. This position will undergo a motor vehicle check (MVR) to confirm a history of safe and responsible driving. If needed, candidate must obtain the appropriate state driver's license based on the position's location within 30 days of hire.
  • Skilled in various communications techniques; experience confidently and comfortably speaking to a broad range of audiences.
  • Experience presenting/demonstrating products to potential/existing customers.
  • Skilled in face-to-face presentations and demonstrations.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
  • Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of sales, journalism, communications, marketing, or public relations agency experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • E. & J. Gallo winery marketing experience.
  • Skilled in team building, leadership and mentoring.
  • Skilled in reading, analyzing, and interpreting the most complex documents.
  • Experience responding effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints from the media, clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Experience in coaching the delivery of effective/persuasive speeches and presentations.
  • Skilled in the use of MS Word at an advanced level; MS Excel, PowerPoint at an intermediate level; MS Access at a basic level.
  • Skilled in applying principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Experience dealing with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Experience applying comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of this particular field of specialization to the completion of complex assignments.
  • Experience operating with substantial latitude for un-reviewed action or decision.
  • Experience maintaining responsibility for all aspects of difficult projects which are broad in nature and require originality or ingenuity.
  • Experience working with all levels and functions within the company.

Compensation

  • Hiring Salary Range: $89,100 - $133,700/Year
  • Actual compensation amount paid may be lower or higher to be determined by factors other than race and gender such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
