State service credit, etc.). They are, however, covered by Worker's
Compensation provisions.
However, any non-permanent employee hired to work 30 or more hours per week for three months or more (cumulative of all positions, and not designated as variable hour worker), must be offered the chance to enroll in the High Deductible Health Plan, within 30 days of their eligibility. Any non-permanent employee hired to work less than 30 hours per week (cumulative of all positions, or designated as variable hour worker - i.e. student workers) are measured during designated measurement periods. If they average 30 or more hours per week over a designated measurement period, they will be offered the chance to enroll in the High Deductible Health Plan, and will be notified of instructions.

- Currently enrolled college student.

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: |
- Undergraduate student at UNC Charlotte.
- 3.0 GPA (high school GPA accepted for rising freshmen applicants).
- Previous experience as a Camp Counselor or experience as a former Counselor-in-Training with Camps on Campus.

Duties and Responsibilities |
Supervise, engage, and mentor children and youth, ages ranging from 1st through 12th grade participating in the Camps on Campus or Niner Academy program at
UNC Charlotte. Foster a safe, nurturing, disciplined, and fun environment for campers and collaborate and communicate with fellow camp staff to ensure a well-organized and positive experience for campers and parents alike.
- Support and coach Counselors-in-Training, providing performance feedback.
- Assist with transportation safety during field trips and transitions (no driving required).
- Maintain awareness of camper allergies, medications, and special instructions.
- Support administrative tasks and ensure accurate record-keeping for camper activities.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Camper Supervision and Engagement
- Supervise, mentor, and actively engage campers in daily activities to foster socialization and interaction.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers, including facilitating a disciplined and positive environment.
Decision-Making and Inclusion
- Make independent, time-sensitive decisions regarding camper safety, behavior, and conflicts.
- Implement individualized learning and behavior plans for campers with disabilities to ensure an inclusive environment.
Communication and Parent Relations
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding camper welfare and disciplinary matters, using professional conflict resolution skills.
- Assist with camper drop-off and pick-up, maintaining a welcoming and efficient process.
Team Collaboration and Curriculum Support
- Collaborate with fellow camp staff to plan and execute learning activities and events.
- Contribute ideas for curriculum and assist in facilitating educational activities, often improvising when needed.
Youth Protection and Compliance
- Complete mandatory Youth Protection training and report any suspected cases of abuse promptly.
- Adhere to camp safety protocols and the Minors on Campus policies.

Other Work/Responsibilities |
- Must be physically capable of lifting objects and campers for loading into vans and car seats, dealing with possible injuries, or assisting campers with disabilities.
- Ability to independently use stairs for safe evacuation during emergencies.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and working outdoors in the heat during assigned shifts throughout the 8-week period.
