Location: This position will be hybrid, with opportunity to work full remote after training as well as in our La Grange, KY office

About the Opportunity

As a Data Mining Analyst III within the Data Mining Group (DMG), you will take on a leadership role, driving large-scale data initiatives and developing strategies for effective data collection, analysis, and application. Your deep expertise in data mining techniques and advanced algorithms will enable you to extract critical insights from vast, complex datasets, including over $600 billion of medical data annually. These insights will directly inform business strategy and help optimize processes across the organization.

In collaboration with senior management, you will work on high-impact projects, recommending opportunities and use cases that leverage data to solve business challenges and create new growth pathways. Additionally, you will be responsible for mentoring and guiding entry- and mid-level analysts, sharing your technical knowledge and fostering their professional development.

Your role will also involve designing frameworks and processes to ensure continuous improvement in data operations, while leading cross-departmental collaborations to ensure alignment between data-driven insights and business goals. Operating in a highly collaborative and innovative environment, you will champion forward-thinking initiatives and play a critical part in shaping the future of the organization through data.

What you'll do



  • Data Analysis and Insights: Examine, interpret, and visualize trends in medical data to generate actionable insights that drive new business processes, refine existing ones, and inform strategic decisions.
  • SQL Query Management: Execute, maintain, and monitor SQL queries efficiently to support business objectives and ensure data integrity. Creates and executes complex SQL queries to analyze and run against very large transactional databases.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and optimize data mining and enrichment processes, developing tools and methodologies to uncover new opportunities and improve data operations.
  • Project Leadership: Lead and manage both small and large-scale data initiatives, ensuring successful and timely delivery. Collaborate with management to define project objectives and align data strategies with business goals.
  • Strategic Data Development: Develop and implement strategies for data collection, analysis, and usage, ensuring that the organization's data practices are aligned with business needs and future growth.
  • Business Recommendations: Analyze data to identify key opportunities and use cases that can improve business operations, recommending data-driven solutions to enhance performance and create value.
  • Mentorship and Training: Mentor entry- and mid-level data analysts, fostering their technical and analytical development. Provide training to enhance the team's overall capabilities.


Process and Procedure Design: Design, refine, and implement processes and procedures to improve the efficiency and accuracy of data operations, ensuring alignment with business objectives and best practices.


What experience you bring (Role Requirements)



  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, technology, or a related field.
  • SQL Expertise: Minimum of six years' expert experience with SQL or other database languages. Experience with "Big Data" required.
  • Health Data: Minimum of 3 years' experience with healthcare claims data.
  • Excel Mastery: Advanced-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Programming Knowledge: Familiarity with Python, R, or similar high-level languages is a plus.
  • Creative and Analytical: Ability to proactively develop innovative solutions while balancing multiple tasks.
  • Team Collaboration: Strong analytical skills with the ability to work in a high-performing, collaborative environment.

This is an exempt position. The salary range is for Base Salary. Compensation will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, skill set, years of experience, and the employee's geographic location.
