US Synthetic, a ChampionX company has an immediate need for a Drafter CAD located in Orem, UT. The Drafter CAD will work closely with the engineering and research and development (R&D) groups to develop solutions to production issues and produce product specifications and drawings for manufacturing those solutions using CAD (Computer Aided Design) software.

What You Will Do:

  • Create 3-D models, assemblies and drawings using PTC Creo

  • Design tooling and fixtures for production and R&D

  • Document and maintain all CAD data using Windchill PDM link

  • Coordinate with engineers and machinists on best solution designs

  • Help maintain drafting and document control standards

  • Draw prints for production floor

  • Assist CAD Supervisor with issuing new part numbers and entering numbers into Made2Manage and Materials Trakker

  • Enter and maintain all critical data in Materials Trakker including: Product Specification details, Finished Part details, Production Routings and CPK data.

  • Work with customer service to enter new part numbers per customer orders

  • Build models and prints for maintenance, process engineering, etc. for manufacturing needs

  • Work closely with machine shop to ensure all needed specifications are on print

  • Reverse engineer product to aid in manufacturing replacement parts as needed

  • Spend time in various production areas researching how to better improve tooling and processes

  • Follow all company policies (Attendance, No Tobacco Products on Campus, Illegal Drug & Alcohol, Family Medical Leave Act, Personal Appearance, Personal Electronic Devices, Vacation & Personal Time, etc.)

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED required

  • Visa sponsorship not available for this role

Physical Demands:

  • Sit/stand for eight or more hours

  • Perform repetitive motions with hands

  • Use of safety equipment (Safety glasses)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Design Certificate of Proficiency (EDT Certificate), Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Drafting or current AAS or EDT student who has taken Mechanical Drafting and plans to finish their degree preferred (or equivalent)

  • 3D CAD Experience - PTC Creo 7.0 (or later) preferred

  • Self-starter

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Mechanical problem solving skills a must

  • Experience with measuring equipment, i.e. calipers, micrometers, etc.

  • Broad knowledge of products and processes at US Synthetic

  • Knowledge of Geometric Diminishing and Tolerance (GD&T)

  • Attention to detail

  • Drafting background

  • Basic computer skills, i.e. MS Word, Excel, etc.

  • Basic math, some trigonometry
