DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer, supervise and coordinate all maintenance, construction, inspection and operation of the Allouez Taconite facilities.
  • Ensure all work performed is in compliance with BNSF standards, OSHA standards, FRA standards, and comply with electrical codes, building codes and Environmental regulation.
  • Day to day and long range planning, budgeting, discipline, safety programs and auditing.
  • Address technical training, safety training and follow up on related supporting issues.
  • Coordinate maintenance, operational and facility work with other departments and/or outside contractors.
  • Ensure compliance and application of company policies, i.e., BNSF's Equal Employment policy, applicable safety rules, scheduled agreements and FRA standards and government regulations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical degree and/or equivalent experience. Two to three years of mechanical and/or electrical experience preferred.
  • First Line Supervisor (FLS) Certified.
  • Knowledge and understanding in construction, inspection and maintenance. Experience with construction/mining equipment and components is preferred.
  • Must be self-directed, motivated and have good interpersonal, leadership, communication and writing skills.
  • Must be safety conscious and able to support and contribute to a strong safety proces.
  • Ability to acquire a working knowledge of union agreements.
  • Must be able to communicate well, one on one and in group settings.
  • Ability to acquire an understanding of environmental regulatory requirements with an understanding of the control measures needed to meet the facility environmental regulation requirements.
  • Basic CAD/Blueprint and Electrical Schematic knowledge.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Willing to be on call 24 hours day/ 7 days per week and to respond on site in case of emergency.
  • This is a 24 hours/7 days per week facility and supervisor must be able to work all shifts and weekends if necessary.
  • Need to be able to work outdoors, night hours and in varied weather conditions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent technical degree with significant field related experience
  • Experienced in Heavy Equipment maintenance and repair
  • Prior supervisory experience in an Industrial oriented facility
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic maintenance/installation

RELOCATION:

  • Relocation assistance may be offered based on business needs.
