The Salvation Army Midland Division Camp Mihaska located in Bourbon, Missouri, is looking for a Sweet Shop Office Assistant! We are looking for an individual age 16 or older to fill this position. This is a full-time temporary summer position that will start on June 09,2025 and will end July 31, 2025. The pay is $300 per week.

Job Objective

Summer ministry position which oversees and directs the daily operations of the Sweet Shop and assists Youth Department with basic office support.

Essential Functions



  • Manage staff activities in the Sweet Shop.
  • Assist with registration by collecting funds to open Sweet Shop accounts.
  • Secure all collected funds in the safe after each Free Time.
  • Manage all Sweet Shop accounts.
  • Inventory supplies daily. Report needed supply items to the DYCS.
  • Secure the Sweet Shop after each Free Time (clean the machines, empty trash, restock shelves, mop the floor, turn the lights off, and lock the doors).
  • Report staff and maintenance problems to the DYCS
  • Prepare camper refunds at the end of each camp session.
  • Distribute camper refunds to Corps Officers/Leaders at camper check-out.
  • Work closely with the Divisional Youth and Candidates Secretary and provide basic office support as requested (e.g. make copies, type and distribute information to the CMTs, work on projects as assigned by the DYCS, etc.).
  • Be present at all meals, meetings and programs unless otherwise directed.
  • Be available to provide spiritual direction to campers as needed.
  • Comply with The Salvation Army Safe From Harm guidelines.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with clients, co-workers, and supervisors. This includes, but is not limited to, such actions as: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors, and clients; respect of others' property and person; and professional and appropriate communication to and about clients, co-workers, and supervisors.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Must be an individual of the Christian faith who has a strong personal relationship with the Lord, attends church on a regular basis, and a desire to lead others spiritually.
  • Requires good communication and leadership skills and be able to work in a variety of climates and weather-related conditions.
  • Requires some office work experience and basic typing skills.
  • Must keep accurate accounting records.
  • Must live on campgrounds throughout duration of employment.
  • Must be a team player and self-starter able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Understand and support the goals and objectives of The Salvation Army Camping program.


Physical and Working Conditions

Capable of participating in camp activities. Frequently lifts 25 pounds, occasionally lifts to 50 pounds and moves 50 or more pounds using dolly/cart/truck. Some work will be outdoors, and it will be hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
