Job Summary
The Department of Internal Medicine is the largest department in the School of Medicine and at UC Davis with 13 divisions.
Jointly supervised by the Finance Operations Manager and the Extramural Finance Manager, this shared support position provides essential financial and transactional assistance across the department's Operations and Extramural functions. The role demands a high level of coordination and adaptability to address the distinct priorities and objectives set by both managers and/or Financial Analyst Supervisors, ensuring effective support for the Financial Analyst 3 team.
This position also provides backup support for the Department's Financial Report and supports the fiscal management of the 340B HTC Program, encompassing approximately $20M+ in revenue and expenses. - Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or a combination of experience, education and/or training.
- Ability to analyze nancial data and computer reports to draw meaningful conclusions.
- Must have strong organizational skills to manage changing priorities and a demanding workload.
- Ability to use independent judgment to make logical decisions.
- Must understand the urgency of various tasks or inquires and the ability to adjust priorities as needed.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively and professionally, verbally and in writing, to establish and maintain good rapport with staff, faculty, co-workers, and vendors.
- Must provide excellent customer service including responsiveness, support, and appreciation of the staff, faculty, and vendors. Resolves issues and anticipate the need for further action.
- Intermediate skills in using Microsoft Excel and Word for Windows.
- Ability to learn Department and School of Medicine accounting software and other software for spreadsheets, word processing, and database management.
- Ability to function well in a team environment by utilizing available resources and building strong, professional relationships with other team members.
- Analytical skills to independently and tactfully assume responsibility for coordination and completion of complex projects requiring interactions with many individuals in a matrix organizational structure.
- Ability to work with general supervision and direction and to take the initiative to follow up on projects.
- Ability to maintain condentiality, exercise discretion, use independent and mature judgment, work independently with minimal supervision, and commit to excellence.
- Familiarity with standard concepts, practices and procedures within UC and G.A.A.P.
- Rely on judgment and experience to plan and accomplish goals and complete various analysis and correcting entries.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of current UC and campus standard business policies and practices, including budget, accounting, financial administration, extramural activities and systems (e.g., AggieExpense, UC Path, Aggie Enterprise).
- Ability to analyze financial data and computer reports to draw meaningful conclusions.
