Description

SUMMARY

Working closely with and reporting to the Manager, Education Product Development, the Educational Content Developer will collaborate with volunteer subject matter experts to develop and launch new courses, as well as redesign, maintain, and translate existing courses for thousands of AMPP members and non-members globally.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Develop learning products to support a variety of delivery types, including eLearning, microlearning, and instructor-led focusing on digital and blended content creation.
  • Utilize digital authoring tools and associated content management systems, Learning Management Systems (LMS), Learning Experience Platforms (LXPs), and other instructional technology platforms to deploy technical training & learning products on a global scale.
  • Create graphics, animations, videos and other visual/multimedia elements to contribute to and enhance the learning experience.
  • Conduct user testing to ensure content is clear, engaging, and effective. Collect feedback to improve learning outcomes and refine materials.
  • Manage and work collaboratively with subject matter experts to write and edit content that translates complex, highly technical information into engaging and user-friendly content that meets the needs of the target audience.
  • Coordinate the translation and localization of training materials across multiple languages, ensuring content remains relevant, clear, and effective across different cultures.
  • Ensure Instructional Design processes, standards, and strategies based on content type, learner attributes, delivery platforms, and business needs are followed during the development of learning products.
  • Leverage performance metrics, audience analytics, and user feedback to continually assess the effectiveness and value of learning products and processes being used. Provide recommendations for improvements based on data-driven insights.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all deliverables are completed on time and keeping stakeholders updated on progress.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in instructional design, learning technologies, and educational methodologies, continuously improving skills and incorporating best practices.

No supervisory duties expected in this role.


Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Some travel is expected for this role (less than 25%) and a passport may be required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE




  • 3+ years of experience in designing and developing online, instructor-led, and blended learning solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience with deploying learning content to Learning Management Systems and Learning Experience Platforms. Must be able to quickly learn and use association specific software.
  • 2 or 4-year college degree in Education, Human Resources, Technical Writing or a related field is preferred.
  • Related work experience creating Educational Products and Services specific to the heavy industrial and/or military/defense industries is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing immersive experiences and/or simulations a plus.



LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, members, employees of the organization, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, etc. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to develop and interpret business graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Must possess a specific level of communication skills, both verbal and written. Have demonstrated personnel management skills including, but not limited to, the ability to evaluate staff performance and provide direction, is highly desirable. Ability to work in a multi-task environment taking into account various external factors and to communicate efficiently and accurately to both managers/supervisors and subordinate staff.

Must be computer literate with knowledge and experience in word processing and spreadsheet softwares.

Must possess knowledge of instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM, or others) and adult learning principles.

Ability to work independently and lead projects, collaboratively on a team, or with subject matter experts. Should be comfortable participating in a highly collaborative, rapid development process that includes regular engagement with team members, peer review, and other formative feedback.

Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently while meeting deadlines and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Must be detail oriented and have a creative eye for visual design and layout.
