POSITION

Allspring is seeking a Database Engineer to join Allspring Engineering and Technology (AllspringET) team. This role will be based in the US and help to build an operational framework around AWS (Amazon Web Services), Azure and OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) systems and services.

We currently operate in a hybrid working model, whereby you will be required to work in-office 3 days a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Develop and maintain operational standards for database environments across AWS, Azure, OCI, and any future cloud platforms.
  • Participate in Team of administrators and systems operators, ensuring prompt resolution of database-related incidents and events.
  • Evaluate and resolve root causes of database problems, ensuring system reliability and performance.
  • Lead the design, build, and management of database orchestration and automation to facilitate system upgrades, patching, and other maintenance tasks.
  • Implement and manage database monitoring solutions, leveraging native and third-party tools as appropriate.
  • Configure and manage status dashboards, alerts, and incident tickets to ensure timely response to database issues.
  • Provide 24/7 support to meet SLAs (Service Level Agreements) and OLAs (Operating Level Agreements), managing incident, problem, and service request queues.
  • Build strong relationships with developers, technology teams, and business application owners to understand and support their database needs.
  • Ensure the operability, availability, and performance of database systems by building in redundancy, resilience, and monitoring.
  • Participate and conduct regular disaster recovery exercises in conjunction with Business Continuity Planning (BCP).
  • Perform database tuning and query optimization to enhance performance.
  • Automate database tasks such as refreshes and report generation.
  • Set up and manage database auditing and configuration changes.
  • Install and configure SQL Server, including Always On, Mirroring, and SQL Agent jobs.
  • Perform database upgrades and patching.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
  • Keep up to date with the latest industry database features and trends.
  • Participate in and train teams on new database technologies and best practices.

  • Take up tasks and perform necessary actions to provide the fastest resolution with best practices.






    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS



    • 5+ years proven success leading database teams in a global environment.
    • 3+ years of experience as a trading or portfolio management database administrator or experience in trading, trade support, or compliance.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or equivalent.
    • Ability to prioritize, execute, and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



    • 2+ years' experience in cloud based (AWS, Azure & OCI) databases.
    • 2+ years' experience with SQL*Server & Oracle.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools.
    • Ability to support multiple internal clients.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
