Location

NYLO NYC has been renamed to Arthouse Hotel New York City. Over the past two years, the hotel introduced artful programming and imaginative events to the Upper West Side, including Silent Cinema nights, weekend Flower Markets, and holiday pop-ups. Arthouse Hotel was conceived as a celebration of creativity and community- a gathering place where guests will feel at home and connected to New York culture. An exciting renovation is currently planned to debut late 2019. Award-winning firm, Michaelis Boyd, renowned for their work with luxury lifestyle hospitality projects including Soho House, is leading the design.



Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced lead bartender to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and leading a team of bartenders, maintaining inventory and equipment, creating unique cocktail menus, and ensuring that all drinks are prepared to the highest standards. The lead bartender will also be responsible for maintaining compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, while providing exceptional customer service to guests.



Responsibilities

    Supervise and lead a team of bartenders, including training.
  • Develop and implement unique cocktail menus that reflect the season, trends, and guest preferences.
  • Ensure that all drinks are prepared to the highest standards, using proper techniques and ingredients.
  • Maintain inventory of bar supplies and equipment, and order supplies as needed.
  • Ensure that the bar area is clean and organized at all times.
  • Monitor and control costs, including waste and breakage.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including those relating to alcohol service and health and safety.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers, providing exceptional customer service and resolving any complaints or issues that arise.
  • Handle cash and credit transactions, balancing the till at the end of each shift.
  • Train and mentor new bartenders and barbacks for all concepts.
  • Fully educated in all 2 bar outlets with cocktails, beer, wine, and back bar spirits.
  • Participate in cocktail creation for specials, happy hour, buyouts, and events.
  • Assist beverage team with ordering and inventory.
  • Assist management to reconcile financials at the end of the night with the bar team.
  • Present as scheduled at events and buyouts.
  • Maintains vendor relations in coordination with beverage policies and practices.
  • Assesses bar team performance for consistency in cleanliness, flavor, presentation, and bar standards.
  • Manages bar requisitions for spirits, beer, wine, and nonalcoholic beverages.
  • Daily preshift attendance with an item to present or provide managers for staff training, spirit, cocktail, wine, beer, history, map, etc.

Hourly ($20.00)



Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience as a bartender, with a proven track record of excellence in preparing cocktails and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, and other beverages, as well as proper cocktail techniques and recipes.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage inventory, order supplies, and monitor costs.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations relating to alcohol service and health and safety.
  • Ability to handle cash and credit transactions and balance the till at the end of each shift.
  • Basic Microsoft office suite competency, including proficiency in excel, word, and outlook.
  • Ability to lift 40+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks, including carrying kegs, cases of wine, and other heavy items.
  • Ability to work while standing for long periods, and perform tasks such as bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Competency in utilizing the systems on property, including point of sale, inventory management, and scheduling software.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace and follow all health and safety guidelines.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other team members and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and customers.
