Location- Phoenix, AZ, 85034

Overview

We are a dynamic facility specializing in the repair and maintenance of electric motors and other industrial mechanical/electrical equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, transformers, and drives. Our engineering team offers unique opportunities for experience across many domains and industrial settings. We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer (or similar) with a minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience to be a significant contributor to our team.

Job Responsibilities



  • Technical Reporting:

    • Prepare detailed technical reports documenting analysis, findings, and recommendations




  • Electric Motor and Industrial Equipment Repair:


    • Grow to be valuable resource for the team with understanding of electric motor design, operation, and repair techniques.
    • Become familiar with wide scope of industrial equipment to guide projects towards successful completion.


  • Administrative:


    • Assist operations with record keeping, ordering parts, timekeeping, billing, and other tasks as may be required.


  • Project Management:


    • Estimate, plan, and oversee engineering and operations projects from conception through completion as required.



  • Development of QA/QC Systems:

    • Active contributor and developer of quality assurance and quality control systems to ensure high standards of workmanship.




  • Mechanical Systems:


    • Assist or lead in design, analysis, and troubleshooting mechanical systems/components.


  • Mechanical Design:


    • Ability to master precision measurement tools to generate designs from customer equipment, with minor supervision.



  • Research, recommend and/or specify construction materials and special procedures.



    • Use CAD software (primarily SolidWorks and AutoCAD) to design/modify mechanical components and assemblies.
    • Generate fabrication prints with awareness of GD&T principles, and quick iterative feedback from customer and shop operations for mechanical, structural, and electrical systems.
    • Ability to perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for own and other's designs to ensure safe and secure outcomes of heavy industrial equipment.
    • Comfortable receiving prompt feedback from management and journeymen regarding prints and similar documentation generated.



  • Research, define, evaluate, install, operate and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.


  • Machining and Welding:


    • Assist operations in upgrading or maintaining capabilities in machining including lathe, milling, and CNC machines.
    • Assist with decisions for fabrication and repairs with awareness of welding techniques (MIG, TIG, arc welding, etc.).
    • Generate fabrication prints and interpret customer blueprints and symbols.



  • Signal Analysis:

    • Vibration/signal analysis to diagnose complex mechanical issues of many types of equipment.


  • Non-Destructive Testing Inspections:

    • Troubleshoot and review ultrasound non-destructive testing of industrial machinery
    • Similar: QA/QC of Mag-particle or dye penetrant testing of industrial machinery.




  • Problem-Solving:


    • Conduct root cause analysis for failures modes of large, high-power industrial machines.


  • Technical Training:


    • Host recurring technical training sessions for operations and possibly customers.
    • Manage and grow technical libraries and information repositories.


  • Collaboration: Work closely with team members across different departments; communicate effectively to ensure project success.
  • Adaptability: Ability to learn and apply new skills as needed and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.


  • Other duties may be assigned.


Required Skills and Qualifications:



  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (power generation emphasis) or a related engineering field, from an accredited university.
  • Experience: Preferred 1 to 3 years of industrial experience.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of engineering techniques, tools and principles for production of precision drawings, models, and manuals. Ability to successfully apply engineering methodologies to repair and manufacture high-reliability industrial equipment. Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks and AutoCAD).
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, teamwork, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attitude: Willingness to get the job done, push your own boundaries, and share lessons learned with others.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience working in a similar industry within a small team.
  • Strong mechanical inclination or hands-on experience with various types of industrial equipment and their repair processes.
