Job Description

Summary of Position

The Program Associate of Customized Programs oversees the development and implementation of US-based and international customized programs, including Augsburg Faculty-led and external programs, for groups. The position requires coordination with external sponsors, faculty and staff of the University, the CGEE sites, program participants, and consultants and partner organizations in other locations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design & develop short term US-based and international customized programs in conjunction with internal and external entities, faculty, CGEE staff, consultants, partner organizations, and service-providers. Develop pricing, scheduling, and invoicing for customized programs. Train trip leaders as required, including through program set-up and CGEE processes, pre-departure planning, travel requirements/logistics, and program assessment as required.
  • Lead customized programs as required, providing an interface with local consultants/staff, monitoring group needs, and helping groups to reflect on their learning experience.
  • Develop materials in support of the customized programs, including updating materials on the location(s) where programs take place for participant education, safety/security, and preparation.
  • Coordinate program tracking and communication (leaders, participant logistics, and required processes, documents, etc.) for customized programs using software, websites, and other means of communication; ensuring all required communication and documentation with/from participants and leaders is met.
  • Work with CGEE staff and faculty to develop new initiatives for customized programs, as well as on the campus and surrounding community, that increase Global Education opportunities into the curricular and co-curricular realms of the institution.
  • Coordinate participant program registration process. Update and manage master trip calendar.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist as needed with the development of programs to new locations, including research, correspondence with potential service-providers and consultants, documentation of required resources, etc.
  • Represent CGEE on internal and external entities as needed for the development of a holistic model of Global Education at Augsburg University.
  • Present on CGEE programs and engage with students, faculty, and staff to forward a holistic model of Global Education beyond customized programs at Augsburg University.
  • Be on-call for the emergency cell phone.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Typical work environment is an office. Sedentary work for long periods of time.
  • Regular computer and phone use.
  • Travel to international CGEE international sites to complete training and to help lead short-term study abroad programs may be required. In general, CGEE in-country staff will lead short-term programs, however, Minneapolis staff are occasionally required to lead programs, as needed.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience in international education, international development, student services or advising, or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Cultural competency skills and experience relating to people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of higher education systems.
  • Ability to focus meticulously on all areas of a project or task.
  • Ability to lead short-term education abroad programs and facilitate group learning.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse work environment; work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and organize workflows, and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to reason/analyze, maintain confidentiality, and show initiative.
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent advanced education.
  • Experience with the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) or the AFS Global Competence Certificate.
  • Ability to speak bilingually (Spanish preferred).
  • Prior professional, academic, or personal experience with international travel.
Additional Information

Compensation and Benefits at Augsburg

  • The compensation range is $47,000 - $53,000 per year, DOQ.
