The Quality Engineer, Advanced Product works with internal and external teams, responsible for all Advanced Product Quality aspects of Product and Process development. This includes coordinating activities with Business Development, Product Engineering, NPI and Automation teams, through Phase 1 - 4 of the APQP process and ensuring all product and process design goals are met during this phase. They will ensure successful process adherence of the APQP process in the product & process development while also working to streamline the transition of new products to our manufacturing facilities. As the champion of Advanced product quality, you will be providing technical support, ensuring Product & Process compliance, and acting as the resident subject matter expert on all aspects of Advanced Product quality.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Working APQP process with cross functional teams, develop and release product/process control plans, inspection standards, quality and testing plans and instructions, technical specifications and various testing and validations.
  • Leading cross-functional teams to drive process and product development compliance, using audits to identify issues, manage and facilitate problem resolution including root cause investigation, and the development, implementation and monitoring of effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Able to clearly provide recommendations on product improvements (like Cp Cpk analysis and how to center the process)
  • Should have a deep understanding of the Core Tools, be comfortable with 8D's, and work to solve problems actively with NPI & Ops on the floor
  • Using strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)/Process Failure Mode and Analysis (PFMEA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to help with product and process development
  • Consulting with the engineering teams and the management as the Subject Matter Expert on Advanced product quality-related issues.
  • As directed, assuming leadership roles as needed by the team/project in any of the aspects above.
  • Actively contributing to knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Undertaking special projects as required and other duties as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years Tier 1 automotive APQP experience with complex systems involving hardware, software, suppliers/contractors, and customers a strong asset.
  • Certified Quality Engineering (CQE) a strong asset.
  • In depth knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and VDA 6.3

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:



  • Regularly required to sit or stand and move about the facility. Required to be able to read documents and computer screens.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift up to 50lbs of equipment/parts for testing and/or fabrication activities.
