Position Details:

Hours:8-hour shift with a rotating call schedule.

A Day in the Life:

Plant Mechanic is responsible for the mechanical maintenance of the Destrehan, LA soybean processing facility, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairment of equipment and instruments. Candidate must actively participate in Bunge's Employee Safety Policy and maintain a safe work environment for self and all employees. Additionally, this role is responsible for demonstrating a commitment to supply safe food, maintain a food safety culture within the site, continually improve the site's food safety management system and comply with customer and regulatory requirements.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Preventative maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, part replacement of plant equipment.
  • Operation of various hand tools and power tools
  • Using measurement devices, including calipers, pi tapes, micrometers
  • Welding and cutting using a torch: tig, mig, and stick on piping and structural.
  • Rigging and using cables and slings
  • Sheet metal layouts
  • Assembly and installation of bearings on shafts
  • Alignment of coupling between two inputs
  • Follow written instructions for maintenance.
  • Parts lubrication and other maintenance tasks
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, preferred.
  • Associate degree and/or technical certification, preferred.
  • Millwright/Mechanic experience, preferred.
  • Welding and cutting using a torch, preferred.
  • Written/Verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a highly quality controlled, safety conscious environment.
  • Ability to maintain a good working relationship with other facility personnel.
