What is the opportunity?

Opportunity to join a fast growing business line within RBC Wealth Management-US. The Alternative Investment Consultant will be an integral part of the alternative investment product team, responsible for driving advisor adoption of private credit, private equity, and real assets product solutions in client portfolios, and supporting advisors through education, product advice, implementation, and ongoing client servicing.

What will you do?

  • This position will drive growth in platform assets through field engagement with financial advisors in our Central division.
  • Provide education on the benefits and risks alternative investments in client portfolios, and product specific details on available funds.
  • Assist with development and planning of internal events and participate as subject matter expert on alternative investments.
  • Develop and implement a process for managing a territory of roughly 700 financial advisors, identifying and tracking opportunities, and closing new business.
  • Service advisors through the lifecycle of alternative investments - awareness, education, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Remain apprised of current industry trends and research related to alternative investments, and inform changes to product strategy based on advisor and client experience.
  • Participate in RBC's advisor recruitment as a subject matter expert on alternative investments.
  • Partner with other product specialists on complex client cases.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Working knowledge of private markets and ability to speak to the key benefits, risks, and mechanics of a wide range of alternative investment strategies.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial markets and investment industry.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to changing technology.
  • Self-directed and strong business development and client service orientation.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively (30-50%).

Nice-to-have

  • Up to 10 years of financial markets experience
  • Experience within private wealth and/or broker-dealer
  • Advanced degree (MBA) or industry designations (CFA, CFP, CAIA)
  • Securities industry licenses 7, 63 and 65, or series 66; or willingness to become licensed.

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $85,000 - $150,000, depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
