Salary Pay Range for This Position:

$100,878.00 - $151,368.00

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Compliance Specialist II will be responsible for the performance of compliance reviews on internal processes and procedures to support ongoing regulatory compliance with consumer financial regulations. Under the direction of Sr. Compliance Specialists and Management, assists supported departments with compliance related activities including regulatory research, reviews of policies and procedures, and marketing/communication collateral reviews, and project/initiative support to ensure ongoing compliance with laws and regulations.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

Participate in the maintenance and continued improvement of the Credit Union's Compliance Program.

Independently review marketing collateral and member communications to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

Promote compliance awareness across the organization by establishing and maintaining relationships with key business lines and functional stakeholders.

Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to regulatory consumer protection compliance.

Evaluate complaints and compliance concerns for possible corrective action. Report complaints and remediation recommendations to credit union management.

Perform detailed compliance review tasks, document the results and report to management regarding the adequacy of ongoing compliance efforts.

Assist with monitoring, tracking, and reporting changes to state and federal laws, regulations, rules, and providing guidance to business owners, compliance management, and senior managers.

Prepare compliance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information in order to deliver accurate and reliable information for decision-making.

Performs other compliance and risk management related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience required.

Previous financial industry and customer service experience preferred.

Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Five or more years of regulatory compliance and/or internal audit experience in a financial institution.

Credit Union Compliance Certification required or must obtain within first year of employment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Possess strong research, investigative, and analysis skills.

Ability to read, understand and interpret compliance and regulatory language for staff inquiries.

Ability to recognize actions or policies that may result in a liability to the credit union. Apply critical thinking skills to arrive at appropriate conclusions and propose effective solutions.

Effectively seeing issues through to resolution.

Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.

Must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret various financial reports, and legal documents; respond to common inquiries or issues from business units.

Exercises discretion when performing duties assigned.

Safeguards confidential information and uses sound business judgment. Must be a self starter and self-motivated to meet job expectations and goals.

Requires broad knowledge of the compliance and regulatory requirements for the financial services industry.

Ability to read, understand and interpret compliance and regulatory language for staff inquiries.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). Must be proficient in technology applications including the Credit Union's operating system and specialized software required for performance of position.

Ability to use specialized software.

Familiarity with the Symitar system and reports is highly desirable.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages, and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to operate a financial (business) calculator.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position may qualify as Remote or Hybrid with a home base at one of Wescom's offices. The Remote or Hybrid status may be discontinued by Wescom in its sole discretion at any time and for any reason or no reason, with or without notice by Wescom or Employee.
