Job Description

The Missouri Institute of Mental Health (MIMH) at UMSL is seeking a Manager III, Business Administration (Business Manager) to support the Institute's business and fiscal operations. This key position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and diverse environment where responsibilities vary from day to day. The position works in close collaboration with the MIMH Director and other stakeholders to accomplish the Institute's strategic mission and reports to the Director III, Business Administration in the Division of Finance & Administration.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and possess strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with executive administrators, directors, faculty and staff to manage projects under pressure and meet deadlines.

Duties include:

  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the business and financial policy and practices of the University; Identify, troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems and coordinate resources and priorities to meet operational objectives
  • Project and monitor budget performance
  • Collect, track and provide business information and metrics, maintaining an environment of compliance to fiscal policies and procedures, and ensuring transactions are properly documented and authorized
  • Perform, monitor and approve actions related to accounting, budgeting, financial planning, purchasing, payroll and contracts
  • Initiate hiring, payroll and position changes (job postings, job offers, employment changes, annual merit process, etc.)
  • Assess current and future staffing needs of the unit and plan accordingly; Provie assistance with training, supporting and guiding campus employees with fiscal responsibility
  • Participate in the development of standard processes and tools for all financial functions with all other business and functional managers within the finance organization
  • Liaise with MU Shared Services, HR, IT and other campus functional areas to conduct business operations
  • Configure and maintain financial authorizations
  • Manage space and asset inventory for the Institute
  • Other duties as assigned

Shift

M-F; 40 hours weekly

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred qualifications:

  • Ability to work with a diverse array of personalities, under pressure and within deadlines, especially with high-level administrators, executives, faculty, and staff
  • Goal oriented and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Aptitude for consensus building and the ability to maintain positive constituent and colleague relationships through constructive communication skills and professionalism
  • Strong collaborative, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
  • Good listener with excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Experience in supervising and managing multiple employees
  • Master's Degree in related field
Anticipated Hiring Range

Pay commensurate with education and experience.
Hiring Range: $56,864 - $80,881 Annual
Grade: GGS-011
