The Job
Under the direction of the NHRA Director of Event Security and Logistics and the Pit Control Team Lead, measure and mark parking areas that are utilized at NHRA National Events, for race team pits, hospitality, and midway vendors. Pit Control Operations will be assigned to a group or class of professional or sportsman racing competitors. This entails work which can include long hours (12-14+) outside in potentially extreme weather, and in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure proper lines of communication between NHRA Race Control and the appropriate pits.
  • Communicate with assigned groups/classes of competitors to ensure timely response to staging areas before qualifying and elimination rounds.
  • Act as a liaison for teams and vendors and the appropriate personnel from NHRA or the racetrack.
  • Perform additional NHRA Pit Control and NHRA Safety Safari duties as needed.

DATES:
March - November 2025
FLSA/SALARY:
$10 per hour or state minimum wage (whichever is higher)

Minimum Skills/Education/Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Ability to work well within a team and independently.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and follow directions in English.
  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively with vendors, racers, and all levels of management within NHRA.
  • Must have prior work experience with NHRA, preferably in the racing operations area.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to talk on the phone as needed.
  • Must be flexible with meal and rest periods.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, push, pull, run, climb stairs, and lift as needed.
  • Ability to lift 40-60 lbs.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under NHRA insurance policy.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in potentially extreme temperatures for 12-14+ hours per day.
  • Must be able to travel nationwide via on the road or air.
  • Must be available to work non-business hours, including weekends as needed.
