The Loss Mitigation specialist will be responsible for notifying or locating customers with delinquent accounts and attempts to secure payment by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Making contact attempts to assigned borrowers via telephone to inquire on delinquent payments
  • Generating and sending letters to customers on delinquent loans at applicable and scheduled time frames
  • Understanding Secondary-Market requirements for delinquent loan procedures
  • Understanding In-House requirements for both consumer and real estate delinquent loans
  • Reviewing and evaluating customer's financial information, credit reports, Broker Price Opinions (BPO's), and Appraisals for Loss Mitigation Options
  • Underwriting customer's financial documentation for program eligibility
  • Completing needed calculations for Loss Mitigation options, which includes, but not limited to, capitalization of delinquent interest and performing escrow analyses, which could also include establishing an escrow account if currently not in place
  • Submitting customer information into investor websites for loss mitigation programs
  • Working closely with other departments to ensure proper execution and completion of any status change to a loan: coding of loans on the core system, credit reporting, proper execution of documents, and recording of documents
  • Communicating and negotiating charged-off checking account balances with customers and establishing payment if applicable
  • Completing annual testing to ensure all staff is made aware of any updates or changes to regulations

Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability: Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence.

Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.

License: Valid Driver's License may be required.

Reasoning Ability: The ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions.

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office skills: Word processing, Spreadsheets, E-mail, Database software

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
