Job Summary

The Education and Training Analyst will be responsible for designing, implementing and evaluating education programs and training initiatives aimed at enhancing the knowledge, skills and competencies of our stakeholders. The incumbent applies extensive knowledge of designing professional education programs, curriculum development and evaluation metrics. The analyst will collaborate with internal stakeholders, subject matter experts, and external partners to deliver new programs for education, mentorship, and continuing career development as it relates to cancer across the entire spectrum of learners from high school students through early-stage investigators. The incumbent is the lead in stakeholder engagements and works with the team to address educational needs of cancer center members. This includes prospective candidates, students, fellows, and junior faculty searching for information to supplement their careers or education plans. #CA-SB

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent education/training.
  • At least four years of progressive experience in curriculum development, instructional design or education/ training coordination.
  • Experience in developing program metrics and evaluation.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proven ability in developing and maintaining partnerships and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in education and training practices.
  • Advanced writing and editing skills to write training sections of research grant proposals.
  • Experience using analytical and critical thinking skills to research and interpret data and policy, contribute to solutions, forecast the impact of potential actions, develop logical conclusions and/or recommend solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of educational software and data management for tracking and evaluation.
  • Advanced knowledge of software programs such as, but not limited: to MS Office: Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint and EndNote.
  • Solid interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to effectively and professionally communicate in person, elicit information needed to clarify inquiries and requests, handle sensitive or difficult situations diplomatically, and to work effectively and sensitively with internal and external partners from diverse cultural background and perspectives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in interpreting, comprehending and complying with university, state and federal guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative program evaluation methods, including experience with development and implementation of tools.
  • Experience in interpreting, comprehending and complying with university, state and federal guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the policies governing the National Cancer Institute's P30 Cancer Center Support Grant.
  • Experience in interpreting, comprehending and complying with university, state and federal guidelines, policies and procedures.

Department Overview

The Education and Training Analyst will be a lead program designer for the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Centers (UCDCCC) Office of Education, Training, and Career Development (ETCD), as directed by the Associate Director (AD) for Education, Training, and Career Development and the Executive Director for Programs, Planning, and Evaluation. The UCDCCC is designated by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), a School of Medicine Center, and an Organized Research Unit under the Office of Research. UCDCCC is a clinical, research, and educational enterprise consisting of ~267 members from the Davis and Sacramento campuses. As a critical component of UCDCCC, the ETCD works to: identify, integrate, and support existing cancer relevant education and training activities; create and coordinate new cancer education, career development, mentorship programs and activities; and engage trainees from underrepresented groups to support their cancer career development. ETCD supports cancer programs across the entire spectrum of learners from high school students through early stage faculty investigators.

Department Specific Job Scope

The incumbent, in partnership with all the UCDCCC Administrative Offices, develops evaluation plans, and analyzes education metrics for all ETCD programs and workshops. This includes finding creative ways to collect data and necessitates building relationships with a wide variety of program and initiative managers across the University.
