Job Description
General Responsibilities:

Are you a motivated environmental professional looking for a leadership role where you can make a meaningful impact? We are seeking an Environmental Department Manager to lead a team of experts, oversee project success, and drive business growth. This position offers the opportunity to mentor a high-performing team, develop client relationships, and contribute to the overall success of our environmental services.
As the Environmental Department Manager, you will oversee all projects within the department to ensure timely execution, compliance with client requirements, and adherence to company policies, procedures, and quality standards. You will also be responsible for business development efforts, department operations, and financial performance while fostering a strong safety and quality culture.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
The Environmental Department Manager will work with our Phoenix Operations Manager to lead our team of Environmental Professionals and will perform the following duties:

  • Supervise and oversee all ongoing environmental projects to ensure timely completion, adherence to client expectations, and alignment with company policies and standards.
  • Lead the preparation of proposals and cost estimates to ensure accurate scoping, appropriate staffing, and competitive pricing for profitability.
  • Manage daily department operations, including staff training, professional development, performance reviews, and resource allocation.
  • Provide leadership in business development efforts by identifying and securing new project opportunities while maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Develop and execute the department's annual business plan to support strategic growth and operational excellence.
  • Oversee key department metrics, including revenue growth, staff chargeability, project billing and collections, and overall profitability.
  • Identify and mitigate project-related risks, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry best practices.
  • Champion a strong safety culture by leading safety initiatives, enforcing best practices, and ensuring pre-task planning for all projects.
  • Drive continuous quality improvement by monitoring standards, engaging in quality assurance practices, and collaborating with APRs at project initiation.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in technical discipline practiced by the Firm including Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or Geology and 8 years' practice experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 12 years' related experience.
  • Master's degree or PhD preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
Preferred Certification:
  • Certification or licensure in field of expertise.
