Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin. BETTER TOGETHER

1.0 FTE/40 hours per week

Under the general supervision and guidance of the Health Information and Privacy Manager, the Health Information Technician is responsible for preparing and scanning documents into the electronic medical record (EMR) system. This position is responsible for managing the interface error logs for incoming medical record documentation. The position will also include assisting customers with release of information requests, sorting/distribution of routers, U.S. mail, interdepartmental mail, and pulling requested medical records from the centralized file room.



JOB SPECIFIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  1. High school graduate or equivalent is required.
  2. A minimum of six (6) months experience in a healthcare setting is required. Experience in a medical clinic is preferred but not required.
  3. Experience working with healthcare documents or other confidential records is required.
  4. Basic knowledge of or ability to learn and apply medical terminology is required.
  5. Ability to maintain patient and organizational confidentiality.
  6. Epic experience is preferred but other experience working with electronic medical records systems is acceptable.
  7. Ability to use a PC, scanner, fax machine, and telephone
  8. Knowledge of various computer programs such as MS Office, is required.
  9. Good organizational skills are required.
  10. .
  11. Ability to participate in the training of other staff is required.
  12. Accuracy and attention to detail skills is required.
  13. Ability to identify forms, standard and nonstandard, and their appropriateness for inclusion in the EMR is required.
  14. Excellent customer service skills are required.
  15. Ability to recognize, identify and report problems is required.
  16. Ability to be flexible and be a team player is required.
  17. Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, under pressure, and with time restraints is required.
  18. Ability to cope with rapidly changing demands for records (fast-paced work environment) is required.
  19. Ability to provide transportation for oneself is required.
  20. Ability to work while standing or walking for extended periods of time is required.
  21. Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or handle materials is required.
  22. Ability to bend, reach, lift, pull and/or carry up to 10 lbs. is required.
