Essential Job Duties |
We are seeking a skilled and experienced
Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team. This critical role involves maintaining, repairing, and operating heating, cooling, steam/hot water boilers, and auxiliary equipment within the maintenance service zone. The technician will also perform a wide range of tasks, including
HVAC maintenance, plumbing and piping installations, and electrical system repairs.

Key responsibilities and duties include but not limited to:
Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, including temperature controls, regulators, and sensors- Install, maintain, and repair secondary electrical systems and components, including conduit, wiring, electrical panels, breakers, motors, switches, and receptacles
- Follow manufacturer guidelines to ensure refrigeration and air conditioning equipment remains in optimal condition
- Diagnose and fix issues with boilers, pumps, condensate receivers, steam lines, air compressors, and related equipment
- Handle the installation, repair, and maintenance of piping, fixtures, and associated plumbing systems
- Identify defects and malfunctions in electrical control circuits and HVAC systems, implementing effective corrective measures
- Create innovative solutions for standard and non-standard repairs across plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems
- Adhere to safety standards and ensure all work complies with applicable codes and regulations
- Provide expertise to maintain reliable operation of facility systems and minimize disruptions

Other Responsibilities |
- Expected to participate in quarterly on-call program, carrying a pager for one week at a time. This occurs every ten to fourteen weeks
- This position has been designated as essential personnel for the University and may be required to report to work during adverse weather conditions even though the University may be operating on an alternate schedule. This position may assist with snow and ice removal under the direction of a supervisor

Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education |
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require special licenses or certification(s).
Optional Guidelines: Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. |
Other Required Qualifications |
- Demonstrate through work a depth of knowledge and skills for pneumatic controls, as well as DOC type of controls
- Able to communicate effectively with supervisors and the general public, and is able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and other communications related to work assignments and other matters
- Able to lift up to 60 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodations
- Experience in the electrical trade
