In this high value role, you will have leadership responsibility for developing and growing Optum Advisory's payer consulting practices devoted to medical management, quality, and clinical/administrative operations. Your expansive knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid and will be critical to developing relevant and differentiated offerings, and you'll leverage your executive-level market relationships to attract talent, drive growth and deliver outstanding client results.

Primary responsibilities will include:



  • Define, maintain and clearly communicate the practice vision & strategy, design and develop key solution offerings and associated go-to-market plans to execute against the vision
  • Attract and retain top consulting talent who bring subject matter expertise and consulting craft skills to deliver high-quality products, and who proactively augment and enhance a strong, mission-oriented culture
  • Deliver on high growth operating objectives, including sales, revenue, margin, utilization and Net Promoter Score (NPS)
  • Actively maintain differentiated thought-leadership agenda to elevate market credibility with c-suite clients
  • Develop a strong growth culture, leading client sales pursuits for consulting services, and collaborating with the broader Optum team on integrated offerings
  • Ensure high degree of quality in the execution of client engagements, resulting in high client satisfaction and profitability
  • Provide executive oversight of project economics and direct teams to follow practices needed to ensure both quality and profitability
  • Serve as principal point of relationship and escalation for client executives
  • Serve in an advisory role to clients on business strategy, operational effectiveness and healthcare best practices

Required Qualifications:



  • 10 + years of healthcare consulting experience, preferably with a large consulting organization, and having accountability for engagement leadership, client relationship management and business development
  • 6+ years of experience in consulting services with domain expertise in government programs, with a focus on Medicare and Medicaid growth, clinical cost management and operational excellence
  • 4+ years of full consulting practice management, including the development of differentiated offerings and having accountability for practice profit and loss
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and closing multi-million-dollar consulting engagements
  • Track record of success leading a team and coaching/mentoring future leaders
  • Willingness to travel up to 70% of the time on a sustained basis


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Graduate level degree in business or healthcare
  • Subject matter expertise in clinical services such as case management, disease management, utilization management, Stars/HEDIS, clinical model development, etc.
  • Experience with managed services offerings integrated with partner solutions

Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $188,000 to $357,600 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
