Position Summary

As a leader in NYU's Global Office of Information Security, the Director, Global Cybersecurity Architecture and Engineering designs and implements secure architecture and engineering solutions to enhance the University's cybersecurity posture while addressing the cybersecurity requirements of the university's administrative, academic, and research systems. Lead the development and application of security frameworks for the university's networks, on-premises systems, cloud environments, and SaaS integrations, ensuring compliance with NYU's information security program, policies, and standards. Collaborating with university stakeholders, incorporate security best practices into existing and emerging technologies, aligning security initiatives with institutional goals, and mitigating risks to the University's global digital ecosystem. Lead a team focused on improving cybersecurity resilience through design and engineering practices, adhering to industry best practices, and maintaining a proactive approach to evolving cyber threats.


Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Information Security, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, related field.Information Security, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or equivalent.

Required Experience:
7+ years experience in Information Security or a related field, with strong knowledge of security technologies, practices, and standards or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience. and 3+ years experience in cybersecurity operations and architecture. Familiarity with cybersecurity standards like NIST 800-181, NIST 800-53, and ISO 27001. Demonstrates proficiency in security technologies and standards. Expertise in areas such as Identity and Access Management, Cloud Security, Network Security, and Data Protection.

Preferred Experience:
5+ years experience providing cybersecurity architecture and engineering for large organizations across the globe. Demonstrated background of cybersecurity operations or engineering fields. Demonstrated experience leading technical professionals through complex implementations of cybersecurity frameworks. or

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Expertise in Identity and Access Management, Cloud Security, Endpoint Security, Data Protection, Network Security, or Application Security is required. Demonstrate leadership, verbal and written communication, and team-building skills and a track record of developing others through coaching, mentoring, and training. The ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences, solve complex problems, and manage conflicts effectively is essential.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Deep focus on advanced cybersecurity technologies and security practices at scale. A background in academic and research environments, merger and acquisition integration, and experience managing complex regulatory landscapes would be considered valuable assets.


Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $185,000.00 to USD $225,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
