Summary

Performs a variety of tasks including receiving, retrieving, releasing diagnostic images in electronic format, in accordance with department policy. Performs various clerical and other duties as assigned. Establishes strong working relationships with internal and external customers. Multitasks by handling phone lines and film requests at the same time.

Job Duties

  • Fulfills requests for images and reports in a timely manner, ensuring availability in PACS system, AMBRA, Life Image, and/or CD; follows proper protocols for releasing confidential patient information, and for legal cases.
  • Ensures coordination of daily work duties within the team; coordinates timing of exams within department guidelines. Retrieves images proactively or as requested from Picture Archival Communication System (PACS) for radiologists, clinicians, patients, outside facilities, and law firms. Ensures images uploaded into PACS are complete and attached to the correct patient.
  • Prioritizes phone calls from internal and external offices, patients, and colleagues. Answers questions about records/files as needed.
  • Checks and anticipates need for and ordering of supplies; verifies receipt. Maintains upkeep and supplies for systems and CD burners within designated areas
  • Interacts with patients, colleagues and care teams in courteous, professional manner. Identifies patient with two patient identifiers.
  • Monitors requests for conferences/tumor boards; monitors assigned worklists.
  • Coverage of the Imaging front desk as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to deal effectively and ethically with medical and confidential information relating to patients, families, and physicians.
  • Ability to project professionalism on the telephone and maintain a positive attitude with effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a healthcare setting, learn new tasks, and work well under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1 year registration experience.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
