Description
The Department of Bioengineering at UC Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora has two (2) separate positions, one full-time position and one part-time (.20 FTE) position for a Speech Language Pathologist, Early Childhood Special Educator, Special Educator, or related field in our assistive technology program, the Center for Inclusive Design and Engineering. This position will work to support the Adapt to Impact Projects for both Early Intervention Tech for Tykes and StateWide Assistive technology Augmentative Alternative Communication (SWAAAC) programs. Tech for Tykes is a statewide assistive technology (AT) technical assistance and training program within the CIDE that is funded by Early Intervention Colorado (EICO), Office of Early Childhood, Department of Human Services. This program works toward building and maintaining an infrastructure for the support of AT services through the provision of professional development, technical assistance, and an AT loan bank for early intervention professionals in Colorado. The program seeks to increase awareness and understanding of AT, and to develop strategies for implementation and documentation of AT services. It also facilitates access to technical assistance activities for AT providers and families. SWAAAC is a statewide assistive technology (AT) technical assistance and training program that is funded by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE). This program works toward building and maintaining an infrastructure for the support of AT services in the public schools through the provision of professional development, technical assistance, and an AT loan library of assistive technology devices and resources. The program seeks to increase awareness and understanding of AT in educational settings, and to develop strategies for implementation and documentation of AT devices and services. All job responsibilities are provided within the Center for Inclusive Design and Engineering (CIDE), on the downtown campus location, with primary work responsibilities supporting CIDE's Adapt to Impact Projects for both Early Intervention Tech for Tykes and StateWide Assistive technology Augmentative Alternative Communication (SWAAAC) programs. Responsibilities include the following: 1. Execution of the Early Invention Colorado and SWAAAC Statements of Work. Position will be responsible for tracking, completion, and evaluation of deliverables within specified timelines. 2. Develop and disseminate marketing and outreach materials/resources in the form of website content, social media, digital and print resources, and presentations. 3. Support, develop, and manage statewide library of Inclusion and Universal Design Kits. 4. Create library of Quick Tip Video content to support use and implementation of adaptive technologies available in the Inclusion and Universal Design Kits. 5. Provide technical assistance via phone, web-conferencing, email, and website to providers throughout the state on topics related to Universal Design, Inclusive Classroom practices, general support for children with a variety of disabilities, community resources, and assistive technology. 6. Consult and conduct environmental analyses of programs, via interviews, observations and protocols and provide written reports with guidance on areas of improvement, strengths, and challenges. 7. Collect data, conduct program evaluation, and engage in continuous quality improvement. 8. Produce written reports as required detailing project progress related to Scope of Work deliverables, effectiveness, and outcomes. General CIDE Program Responsibilities Include the Following: 1. Research: * Provide clinical expertise to support engineering research projects as requested by CIDE Director. * Engage in other research activities including collecting and analyzing relevant data as directed by CIDE Director. 2. Teaching: * Teach guest lectures or small modules in Bioengineering (BIOE) courses, as directed by BIOE faculty * Assist in the development of course offerings to graduate students, professionals, paraprofessionals and families in the use of a variety of assistive technology devices and intervention strategies. * Supervise and/or support students in assistive technology related coursework offered by BIOE department and as directed by CIDE Director. Compensation and Benefits The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $ 75,000-79,800 for a 1.0 FTE (salary will be adjusted per FTE]. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications) * Applicants with a strong background or interest in early intervention and assistive technology service provision is preferred. * Experience working in early childhood learning environments. * Strong understanding of Universal Design principles and Inclusive practices. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. * Knowledge of Google applications including Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and partners at all levels throughout the institution. * Ability to lead programs on a statewide level. * Strong organizational and time management skills. * Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion in assistive technology intervention Conditions of Employment * This position is fully remote, and the candidate can work anywhere in the United States, although we would welcome an in-office presence.
