Overview of the position

The Engineering Specialist will be a key Subject Matter Expert supporting the production department's Integrated Team, and the Product Support Engineering Group as needed. This role will have demonstrated reliability, capacity, and effective working knowledge of the following PHSMWA TTE program / Product Support responsibilities and will accurately resolve TTE and technical matters to meet the operational and compliance priorities of Production, Engineering, QA, and most importantly, the customer. The Engineering Specialist has the responsibility and authority to perform assigned tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Ensure tooling and calibrated items are appropriately labeled, organized, stored, and accessible in the department. Find lost tooling; prevent duplicates and waste


  • Ensure broken or poorly performing tooling is remedied in a timely manner, before it becomes an emergency or a production delay
  • Generate TTE requisitions with the right information to ensure special tooling and equipment is defined, made (or purchased), and identified successfully
  • Write, substantiate, validate TTE Equivalencies. Initiate and update unit ETMLs and Test Data Sheets.
  • Assist with evaluating New Capabilities for technical complexity, fit to existing, potential TTE costs to add.
  • Train production technicians on usage of TTE, Test Stands, or other technical processes as needed
  • Coordinate consumable material requirements with PSE, Materials dept, and other shops as needed
  • Coordinate calibrated items requirements with CAL / QA, PSE, and other shops as needed
  • Assist with Corrective Action Requirements as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Education / Experience Requirements: A minimum of three years of related experience or some combination of education and experience is possible depending on experience. FAA Certified repairman certification and/or A&P license is a plus.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, reports, schematics, and documents. Ability to initiate and respond to issues and inquiries with shop personnel, engineering, QA, management, customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies using effective verbal, written, and software skills. Ability to write reports, analyses, and other documentation and instructions that conform to prescribed style and format.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to understand and calculate figures such as Ratios and percentages, ranges, scales, accuracies, proportions, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Able to measure and calculate fine dimensions using a variety of hand tools

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
