Dr. Benjamin Schuster at the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering (Rutgers University, New Brunswick) is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the position of Postdoctoral Associate to work on a research project starting January 2025. The focus of this project is on bioengineering and biophysics of biomolecular condensates. The PhD scientist will contribute to studies characterizing the material properties of biomolecular condensates using protein engineering and biophysics approaches. The candidate should ideally have a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or other related disciplines and research experience working with recombinant protein expression and purification, molecular biology, and biophysical assays. Background in intrinsically disordered proteins, fluorescence/confocal microscopy, quantitative image analysis, rheology, and bioconjugate chemistry are preferred. The individual will report directly to the Principal Investigator. The candidate will be expected to contribute original research and data analysis for publication and grant applications. The candidate will be expected to train and oversee undergraduate and graduate researchers within the lab on related projects. The individual will also be expected participate in preparation of grants, fellowships, and manuscripts, and give public presentations. The candidate should have strong communication skills, work ethic, and competency for working on highly interdisciplinary projects. This is a 1-year appointment that can be renewed based on applicant performance and availability of grant funds. |
