Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

The Accounting Specialist ensures prompt and accurate processing, analysis, and reporting of accounts payable and accounts within established accounting policies, controls, and guidelines. Your keen attention to detail will be needed to solve problems and support the Library District.

We Require

  • Two years of clerical accounting, bookkeeping, or specialized administrative experience
  • High school diploma or GED

We Also Value

  • Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • Experience with payroll systems
  • Experience working with Excel Pivot Tables
  • Three or more years of accounting experience
  • Experience with accounts reconciliation
  • Experience working with the Advantage Financial System
  • Experience as a Certified Agency Procurement Aide (CAPA) or other procurement training/certification

Job Contributions

  • Serves as a Certified Agency Procurement Aide (CAPA) and orders supplies in accordance with CAPA guidelines
  • Maintains Procurement card logs by entering and balancing account data and generating statistical summary reports as required
  • Processes invoices for payment in the Advantage Financial System
  • Communicates regularly, in writing and verbally, with department personnel, vendors, and customers
  • Reconciles Accounts
  • Provides support for the Library district payroll, conducting audits and assisting managers and employees in the payroll process
  • Verifies invoice pricing against contract pricing
  • Serves as a liaison between department and vendors in the resolution of invoice/account problems and inquiries
  • Performs calculations to determine appropriate payment schedules and amounts
  • Processes journal vouchers to make corrections and adjustments to departmental accounts

Working Conditions

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time
  • The position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
