Responsibilities

The Manager of Financial Advocates oversees the Financial Advocate team, ensuring that patients and their families receive assistance in understanding and managing their financial responsibilities related to healthcare services. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day operations, developing strategies to optimize patient collections, ensuring compliance with financial assistance policies, and fostering a patient-centered approach. The manager collaborates with site operation leaders, clinical, and other revenue cycle areas to improve the financial performance of the healthcare organization while maintaining a positive patient experience.

  • Manage and coordinate all activities for the Financial Advocate team
  • Collaborate with internal Hazelden departments
  • Report and maintain Financial Advocate goals
  • Ensure Compliance within the department and provide reporting
  • As a manager, this position is responsible for:

    • Supervise, mentor, and develop the financial advocate team, including hiring, training, and performance management.

    • Conducting one-on-one performance communication sessions with direct reports to measure progress on goals, development plans and provide feedback on progress on a regular basis, including formal annual performance communication.

    • Conduct regular team meetings, training, and performance reviews to maintain a high level of service and knowledge across the team.

    • Maintaining a respectful and collaborative professional relationship with all team members to ensure an engaged and positive team atmosphere.

    • Lead initiatives to streamline financial advocate processes using technology and software tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

    • Maintaining current job descriptions for all supervised positions.

    • Maintaining awareness of Hazelden policies and procedures.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree or 6 years of related work experience, or equivalent
  • Five years of previous healthcare, insurance, or finance experience
  • Previous experience with an Electronic Health Record or documentation.
  • Intermediate mastery of Microsoft Office, including Excel
  • 2 years free from chemical abuse problems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 or more years supervision experience in healthcare, insurance, or finance
  • Lean certification or previous training/experience
