About the Role
This individual will be responsible for supporting the Environmental Test Lab functions which include, testing armored military ground vehicles and their electronics components both in a laboratory environment and at off-site test facilities. The work will involve electro-mechanical and environmental testing as well as data acquisition of tested hardware using various test instrumentation such as Thermotron Test Chambers and SOMAT data acquisition system.

Responsibilities to Anticipate for this role
  • Represent the Environmental Test Lab and GDLS with all internal and external customers in a positive manner
  • Knowledge of how to set up and run Thermotron test chambers
  • Capable of setting up and operating electrodynamic shock/vibration table
  • Familiarity with hydraulically controlled test equipment
  • Maintain and organize associated Environmental Test Lab equipment and tools
  • Help Test Engineers acquire relevant test equipment and tools
  • Setup / install pressure transducers, strain gages, piezoelectric accelerometers, LVDT's, string Pots, load cells, anemometers, flow meters for specific testing
  • Run tests independently to record data using data acquisition system SOMAT/DEWESoft and provide to Test Engineers
  • Maintain calibrated equipment and send out as required
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on electrical assemblies, cables, etc.


Qualifications Sought
  • Associate technical degree in electronics or similar discipline.
  • Electro-mechanical and environmental testing background
  • Knowledge of electronic transducers and associated signal conditioning
  • Must be willing to travel to test site facilities (1-2 weeks at a time)
  • Must meet ASR (Anthropometric Size Restrictions)This position will require the candidate to be able toclimb on/off, work in, and work around military vehicles is desired.Must be able to pass ASR test (Anthropometric Size Requirement for confined space)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work in a team environment with good communication skills
  • Prior work on military ground-based vehicle systems is preferred but not necessary
  • Hydraulic test experience
  • Knowledge of calibration and metrology techniques a plus
  • Basic Soldering skills and wire harness assembly and repair needed
