Summary:
The Electrician performs work on electrical power distribution systems in the hospital, medical offices and general building environments. Systems include low-voltage and medium voltage AC, including 24VAC, 120VAC, 208VAC, 480 VAC and up to 4160VAC. Performs control voltage repair. Also works regularly with diesel primary mover emergency power generating equipment, including preventive maintenance, periodic testing, and performance documentation. The Electrician plays a key role during construction and renovation projects collaborating with external contractors, performing circuit tracing and analysis, and as-built performance verification.
Responsibilities:
1.Monitors and maintains electrical safety integrity of components that serve and support the patient care, visitor and teammate environments.
2.Performs routine inspection, testing and maintenance of critical utility equipment including but not limited to breaker panels, transformers, switchgear, lighting and electrical receptacles.
3.Monitors and validates electrical work performed by external contractors.
4.Manages and maintains Line Isolated Power Systems in critical care areas.
5.Manages and participates in monthly emergency generator testing.
6.Makes formal recommendations to leadership for capital repair and or replacement of critical electrical distribution systems components.
7.Non-licensed electrical teammates will work under the supervision and oversight of a licensed electrician. Non-licensed electrical teammates will perform tasks within the scope of expertise achieved and according to the National Electrical Code and other applicable regulations.
8.Installs electrical systems according to national and state codes.
9.Takes proper safety precautions at all times. Identifies and corrects or reports any safety or environmental issues.
10.Conducts routine rounds of the facility to monitor systems as needed.
11.Keeps records on all equipment and systems.
12.Completes continuing education programs as required by job, regulatory agencies and to maintain certifications/professional licensing.

Other information:
Education
High school graduate plus three years work experience under the supervision and oversight of a licensed electrician. Two-year degree or certificate in Electrical Engineering Science or equivalent preferred.
Licensure/Certification
*Licensed electricians must maintain active North Carolina Limited, Intermediate or Unlimited Electrical Contractors License.
*Highly qualified non-licensed electricians may be considered depending upon combination of education and experience.
Experience
*Minimum 5 years active electrical experience required for licensed electricians.
*Minimum of three years active electrical experience required for unlicensed electricians.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
*Basic ability to read and understand building system blueprints required.
*Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
*Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and able to learn new software.
Valid NC Driver's License: No
If driving a Wayne UNC Vehicle, must be 21 years old and MVR must be approved by Risk Management.
