As a Corrections Officer 3, you will serve as a lieutenant performing administrative and supervisory work in the care, custody, control, and discipline of inmates. You will ensure staff compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations; plan and organize the supervision of inmate movement; and monitor grounds, buildings, and inmate work sites for possible irregularities. In addition, you will conduct employee performance evaluations, provide training for new staff, and submit reports regarding inmate incidents. This role requires the ability to provide steady leadership to staff, counsel inmate adjustment concerns, and adhere to safety and security measures at all times.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are to be determined. Selected applicants will work 40 hours per week with rotating days off.
• This position is eligible for retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Applicants who are new to the Commonwealth will start employment at $52,306 annually (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year as a Corrections Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title); or
• Four years of experience in corrections security work in a Pennsylvania state or county corrections facility. (Note: Persons seeking employment under this option will be required to successfully complete, or have completed, a training program conducted by the Department of Corrections.)

Other Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
