DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will oversee the operations of the PennDOT Welcome Centers. Your team will deliver precise, efficient, and helpful information and resources to travelers utilizing the Welcome Center facilities, aiding them in their travel planning. You will act as a representative of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania by warmly greeting and assisting visitors, while also maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the state's highways, transportation networks, public and private attractions, recreational areas, events, weather conditions, accommodations, and tourist sites, ensuring that guests receive relevant printed materials.

Additional duties involve public relations, support of internal and external communications to improve operations, quarterly meetings surrounding events, programs and services, and more!

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hour work week
  • This position works a 6-week rotating schedule. Days and hours can vary from Sunday to Saturday
    • Temporary hours of operation are 9:00 AM to-5:30 PM.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Tourist Information Counselor; or
  • Two years of experience in work involving public contact; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):
  • Supervisory experience.
