OUC - The Reliable One, an industry leader and the second-largest municipal utility in Florida, is offering an internship program in the Transformation group.

We are looking for a Data Systems Engineer Intern - Summer 2025. During the internship, you will support the six-sigma process improvement project. This internship will include:

  • Identifying the process, waste and quality impacting elements in current reporting infrastructure to identify opportunities to implement best business practices and propose transformation plan
  • Mapping and documenting current process, diagnosing current performance, and proposing best practices including automation opportunities for validation and verification steps

Internship Eligibility:

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university in a degree seeking program.
    Academic status of Junior and above
  • Program of study: Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, Data Analytics
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above, 3.3 and above preferred
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to commit to a full-time schedule between May 19, 2025 through August 15, 2025

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • SQL and/or Python Knowledge
  • Systems or Software architecture foundation
  • SQL and Relational databases: ability to read and write SQL queries and understand relational databases
  • ETL Concepts: understanding of Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes
  • Knowledge of automation tools and techniques
  • Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting data using statistical tools
  • Strong analytical skills to identify root causes and develop solutions
  • Experience in managing projects, including planning, executing, and monitoring
  • Eagerness to learning and apply best practices for process improvement
  • Ability to conduct thorough research and gather relevant information
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio

Compensation: $20-$21 per hour, varies depending the education level

Schedule: Full-Time (up to 40 hours per week) - Hybrid
