Job Summary:

The UW Carbone Cancer Center's Clinical Research Finance Office (CRFO) is looking for a Clinical Trials Accountant to join our team! This position will be responsible for managing accounts for multiple Disease Oriented Teams throughout the account lifecycle, including intake of new accounts, ongoing invoice generation and follow-up, revenue/expense review & reconciliation, and account closure at the end of the study.

This position may work remotely up to 100%.

Applicants should be available to work a 70%-100% FTE schedule (28-40 hours/week).


Responsibilities:
Works directly with principal investigator and research staff to budget, monitor expenditures, and reconcile financial data for sponsored programs. May directly process and/or approve accounting transactions such as cost transfers, procurement, sub award management, and financial processing related to sponsored project management. May review and approve transactions on behalf of an intermediate unit or center.

  • 45% Assists principal investigators with financial management of sponsored program budgets and directs day-to-day fiscal transactions
  • 30% Prepares and processes financial reporting and/or invoicing information
  • 5% Provides expertise and advice related to procurement and allowable charges
  • 10% Reviews financial expenditures for accuracy on sponsored grants and contracts
  • 10% Maintains accurate financial data in departmental financial information systems and databases.

Education:

Preferred
Associate's Degree
Preferred focus in finance, business, or accounting


Qualifications:

Required:
- At least one year of experience with work or an internship, preferably in finance, accounting, business, healthcare, or clinical research.

Preferred:
- Knowledge of oncology clinical trials
- Knowledge of UW-Madison policies & systems related to research
- Experience with OnCore (or other Clinical Trials Management System)
- Experience with Smartsheet


Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 70% - 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

This position may work remotely up to 100%.
