Job Details:

Purpose

Provide comprehensive lifecycle support to faculty members, principal investigators, and other University research staff in the preparation, submission and award management of research-related proposals to sponsoring agencies and organizations.

Responsibilities
  • Pre-award Support: Provide comprehensive grant proposal development support: research the submission process, create detailed budgets and budget justifications, draft, format and copy/edit proposal documents, create an electronic proposal review form, upload proposal application packages to online sponsor interfaces.

  • Post-award Support: Assisting the research admin with effort certification, no-cost extension requests, credit requests, manage PI status requests, PI changes, and grant transfers.

  • Grant Compliance: Review and analyze University sponsored project proposals for compliance with sponsor, federal, state, local and university guidelines and regulations. Provide counsel and guidance for corrections when proposals do not meet criteria. Assist in developing and interpreting administrative procedures designed to comply with appropriate internal and external regulations affecting both governmental and private research grants and contracts.

  • Reporting: Provide reports on budgets, expenses, balances, and forecasting expenses. Assist with progress/performance reports and other sponsor requests, along with aiding in annual reviews for funding sponsors.

  • Systems: Utilize internal and/or external systems associated with electronic proposal and subcontract submissions (i.e., Research Management System (RMS), eRA Commons, FastLane, ORCID, NIH Commons, Cayuse, SciENcv, etc.). Including troubleshooting issues with systems as needed.

  • General Assistance: Respond to and resolve various sponsor requests for information and assistance. May research the needs and/or interests of potential sponsors and offers more detailed reference information to faculty and staff members initiating proposals. Liaise with the Office of Sponsored Projects and other research support offices on campus, and ensure accurate and timely submission.

  • Process Improvements: Document, modernize, streamline, and implement improvements to enhance processes and create efficiencies. Includes developing procedural documentation and organizing data/files to ensure compliance with records retention and program policies and requirements.

  • Other: Performs related duties as required. At the direction of Assistant Director, assist in assignments, tasks, or duties outside of the regular job duties.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree. Three years of experience in higher education or a related field.

  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and work well as a team member.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail and follow instructions without close supervision.

  • Goal-driven, self-directed and creative with excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, verbal and written skills.

  • Professional demeanor.

  • Regular and punctual attendance.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Solid knowledge of office productivity tools (Microsoft Office).

  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in administrative support functions in a large unit in a faculty-facing position.

Salary Range

$61,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
