Job Overview

The Trauma Coordinator assists in planning, developing, facilitating, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating all aspects of the trauma program. The Coordinator oversees quality improvement activities, collaborates with the injury prevention personnel, and acts as a clinical resource to all departments responsible for care of trauma patients. In addition, the Coordinator provides and coordinates education for the trauma services within the Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) and assists in the development and maintenance of appropriate and required clinical reports for the CHCO, county, and the State of Colorado.

Job Status: 40 hours/week
Shift: M-F 7 - 1530 with the flexibility to start between 6 and 9am

Note: This position allows for hybrid working conditions, with 3 days being in-office and 2 days remote. No weekend or holiday expectations at this time.

Qualifications

* EDUCATION - Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
* EXPERIENCE - Four years of nursing experience one year of which must have been in critical care, emergency room, or trauma program management.
* CERTIFICATION(S) - BLS - American Heart Association for Healthcare Provider OR American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer/CPR Certificate.
* LICENSURE - Registered Nurse license.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

* Acts as a consultant in trauma care for nurses, pre-hospital providers, and other health care professionals.
* Assists in the development of nursing standards of care for trauma patients in collaboration with appropriate disciplines.
* Participates in the development, implementation, and ongoing assessment of trauma protocols.
* Develops and monitors compliance with trauma protocols, policies and procedures.
* Reviews charts, evaluates system effectiveness and identifies areas for improvement.
* Gives feedback to nursing team members of referring hospital and pre-hospital care providers regarding patient care and systems access issues.
* Participates in research, selection, analysis, and distribution of findings and facilitating protocol design for accurate data collection, feedback and analysis.
* Coordinates trauma/emergency related nursing education and in-service programs for hospital staff, pre-hospital care providers, and referring community agencies.
* Assists with Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) administration on a scheduled basis and directs other community trauma education and prevention programs.
* Assists with the identification, investigation, reporting, and follow-up of incidents and quality issues throughout the program while maintaining confidentiality.
* Coordinates trauma performance improvement activities monitoring the quality and appropriateness of care which incorporate the principles of continuous performance improvement.
* Gathers, organizes, and reviews analyzes data and reports related to trauma patients in compliance with the quality improvement and research requirements of the American College of Surgeons, State of Colorado Trauma Programs, and other regulatory agencies.
* Ensures accuracy of data entry and extraction in the trauma registry including concurrent compilation and assimilation of data.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $83,742.67 to $125,614.01
Hourly Salary Range: $40.26 to $60.39
