The Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety Manager (QEHS) for the Westinghouse Government Services (WGS) organization. WGS projects are government related particularly in the United States (US) (Department of Energy (DOE) and Department of Defense (DOD) related) and in the United Kingdom (UK). This role will coordinate QEHS activities where WGS work is done at New Stanton, PA, Newington,, NH New Mexico and Aiken, South Carolina. This role can be remote or mobile but will require frequent travel to these locations and travel necessary to conduct supplier audits.

The Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety (QEHS) Manager will be responsible for managing the quality, environmental, health & safety programs to assure the

effective implementation. The QEHS manager will be responsible for maintaining compliance with the Westinghouse Corporate Quality Management System and Environmental, Health & Safety management system directives. In addition to managerial responsibilities, the role also requires the individual to analyze and advise on quality, environmental, health & safety requirements for government and commercial contract bids and proposals; support multiple project organizations; and oversee deliveries of services, products, and systems of various scope, associated with government contracts and projects.

Your Day to Day:



  • Manage the Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety functions for the Westinghouse Government Services organization, including producing required quality, environmental, health & safety reports and metrics.
  • Interface with other intercompany QEHS organizations to ensure compliance, process consistency and to share best practices and lessons learned.
  • Develop annual department budget and manage expenditures to achieve budget projections as applicable.
  • Develop, deliver, and monitor training applicable to Westinghouse Government Services and contract QEHS technical personnel to ensure that policies and procedures are appropriately established and consistently implemented.
  • Analyze complex to highly complex and unique customer contract Q and EHS requirements to developing accurate cost estimates for bids & proposals and risk identification.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with the Westinghouse Quality Management System, Environment, Health & Safety programs and specific regulatory standards (e.g, NRC, DOD, DOE, UK specific) for project compliance for new and existing opportunities.
  • Support Westinghouse Government Services technical teams during the performance of a wide range of project tasks to ensure effective project implementation that meets all contractual, programmatic, and regulatory QEHS requirements, including development of project interface documents, procedures, and quality plans.
  • Communicate and implement quality assurance best practices through continuous improvement, and drive safe, error free performance through active use and promotion of Human Performance tools and organizational learning.
  • Promote, nurture, and assure a mature and healthy Nuclear Safety Culture (NSC) and Safety Conscious Work Environment (SCWE) across all the Westinghouse Government Services project and locations.
  • Perform final reviews of all contract documents to support the final certification of contract services and deliverables and advise on identified concerns, including required additional approvals.
  • Recommend and implement solutions to quality problems, responding to Corrective Action Program (CAP) issue reports, ensure timely and thorough corrective and preventive actions, and ensure solutions are communicated and implemented to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective change management, keeping clear and open lines of communication with other QEHS organizations, leadership, regulatory agencies, customers, and suppliers, as appropriate.
  • Advising leadership, managers and employees on questions regarding occupational safety, environmental and health, and participating in the prompt reporting and evaluation of incident notifications



Who You Are:



  • BS degree or equivalent (preferably engineering / technical)
  • 10 or more years of experience in a quality assurance and/or environmental, health & safety role required, with positions of increasing responsibility
  • Broad knowledge of U.S. commercial nuclear power quality assurance regulations, e.g., 10CFR50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1, ASME B&PV Code, ANSI, 10CFR21, and/or environmental, health & safety regulations, codes, and standards, e.g., ISO 45001; ISO 14001, including other applicable regulatory regulations and standards e.g., DOD, DOE, NDA (UK)
  • Experience in the application of Nuclear Safety Culture and Human Performance principles
  • Knowledge of engineering, manufacturing, fabrication and testing work processes, general business acumen
