Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    Review and summarize project data.
  • Conduct field checks to ensure construction compliance with design documents and DSA requirements.
  • Monitor and report on project status, delivery objectives, schedule, costs, budget, staffing delays, disputes, changes, and compliance with SOP and other construction requirements.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to the College Project Director and PMO.
  • Identify risks based on field observations, propose mitigation approaches, and maintain a risk register database.
  • Coordinate with the College Design Team and others to develop and execute construction phasing and swing space plans, tracking progress.
  • Resolve complex construction-related issues with the Design Team, contractors, inspectors, DSA, and others, ensuring timely and budget-compliant solutions.
  • Oversee the close-out of Campus Projects for compliance with DSA, District, and PMO requirements, including coordination of relocation activities related to FF&E, asset disposition/surplus, and other matters.
  • Assist other CPLT and CPT members in managing and coordinating the planning, programming, and design phases of Campus Projects, and report to College stakeholders, District, and PMO.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA or BS in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction Management, or a closely related field (4 years of additional qualifying experience may substitute for the required education).
  • 7 years of experience in managing multiple design and construction projects, including 2 years in educational facility design and construction.
  • 4 years of experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA), construction/design processes, or similar processes.
  • 4 years of experience within a large capital improvement bond program and familiarity with relevant provisions of the California Public Contract Code.
  • Experience managing Design-Build projects, preferably progressive design-build.
  • Experience managing projects with a construction value of $50M+.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, and experience with project-related systems such as Prolog and Primavera are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in formal construction partnering.
  • A current and valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California Architectural Board or as a Professional Engineer by the California State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
  • A valid Construction Manager (CCM) credential by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI).
  • A valid DBIA certification.
  • Knowledge of all parts of the project life cycle, including planning, design, construction, and closeout.
  • Ability to multi-task, solve problems, and successfully deliver projects.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The Salary range for this position is $125,000.00-$145,000.00.
