Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fiscal Supervisor to join our dynamic and fast-paced accounting department. As a Fiscal Supervisor with the Department of Pediatrics, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing a team of accountants, ensuring their growth and success in day-to-day operations. This role reports directly to the Department Accounting and Clinical Practice Manager. Your primary responsibilities will include supervising 5 direct department accounting staff, as well as providing department wide on-board training for accountants and support staff performing financial functions, keeping the department updated on new and changes in accounting practices and policy interpretations, reviewing and approving financial transactions, and ensuring that all accounting deadlines are met efficiently and accurately. This position will also oversee budgets, fund reconciliations over clinical, state funded, and contract and grant accounts. Additionally, the Fiscal Supervisor will manage the portfolio of department key clinical service contracts.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Supervise and mentor a team of accountants, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring adherence to established procedures and policies.
  • Approve and review financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Monitor and manage workflow to ensure all accounting deadlines are met.
  • Support employee development through training, feedback, and performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and improve overall efficiency.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and audits as needed.
  • Update written accounting job aids and standard operations procedures.
  • Manage key contracts to ensure compliance, renewals, and deadlines are being met.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree, successful completion of at least 15 credit hours of university-level accounting through intermediate accounting; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
